Over the years we have used numerous brands. Have also done the soap method while on our way home a few times. For the last ten years or so the wife has been using "Odorlos", won't use anything else. It works for us. Here in Southern Calif. it gets a bit hot in the summer months. The only thing we do is add a bit more to the tank when we hit the road and the temp is up. One thing I have found is to keep the tank as clean as possible when not in use. Dried residual DO-DO in the tank is not good. I would rather over use the amount of chemicals no matter what brand than deal with the issues that result from not enough. I have found that we use more in the Durango than our previous 5TH wheel, larger tanks like jetzen said. One thing I have found with this new 5TH wheel is the toilet sewer pipe down to the tank is longer and my flexible rinse hose is now too short to flush out the system from the top down and yes I use the black tank flush as well, just use the tank flush a bit longer. Happy Campin....

chuck,
That's great it was free, will work till you get the other one, good idea to lock it up. I also have a commercial king pin lock that was used on semi trailers I attach after we set up. Gives us a bit more secure feeling while out and about. Happy Campin....

chuck,
That's exactly what I did, had a 30AMP hard wire unit for our old 5TH wheel, sold it to a friend (installed it for him too). Progressives customer service is top notch as well. With all those circuit boards in these units now I wouldn't be without one. Happy Campin....

Edd505,
On the EMS, I purchased the one from Progressive Ind. with the remote readout. Mounted remote readout in the docking station. See pic. I also had the round flex ducting transition piece come loose from the rectangular floor ducting. Reattached with aluminum A/C tape and a few screws into the aluminum floor joists and plywood. Working good now. Also took all the round A/C discharge vents down from the ceiling and trimmed the ends, they stuck way to far into the ceiling duct work, increased the air flow noticeably. My control board for the four point leveling system is centered forward above the front shelf in the basement. Board for the remote control is located in the living room behind the TV. Edd505, Looks almost identical to mine. My power comes in between the water heater and docking station. I put my EMS on the floor next to the pump and installed a check valve in the cold water inlet to the water heater. Why? When using the electric heating element it would create back pressure in the cold water side, couple fittings leaked. Not anymore. It might look like a jumbled mess in there but sure is easy to get too everything, I don't bend as easy as I used too. As you can see, my converter is located behind the drain lines. Happy Campin....

chuck,
Nash Ramblers??? Dating one self here, sounds like we know some of the same people. I should talk. I had a family member that drove a Metropolitan and another who drove a big ole Hudson Clipper. What a tank that car was, nice for its day. Talk about different strokes for different folks. Got to get out and start checking things, headed for the lake in a couple weeks. Happy Campin....

racin07jason,
Welcome to the group and congrats on your new rig. Here is hoping you have many safe trips. Enjoy. One thing I have found out over the years with the "China bombs" is that all the (ST) tires in years past are rated to a maximum speed of 65MPH and if you read their literature it says to stop every few hours and give them a chance to cool a bit. I guess the question is, who does that? Stop for potty breaks yes but at 65MPH you will get run off the road most of the time, not that I advocate towing any faster. The new Goodyear Endurance trailer tires 15 & 16" are rated for 75MPH and are made here in the US. They haven't been out that long so time will tell, haven't heard any negatives yet. Like chuck said, take your time on your PDI. I've got a four page PDI list around here someplace, need to scan and post it for everybody. We are in our fourth 5th wheel now and when we did our PDI on the 315RKD I brought up some things the tech had no idea of. Does the unit have two A/C units? If so ask if one is on a delayed start (got a no idea and deer in the headlights look on that question) it was. Another thing I did, was when I got it home I pulled all four wheels and checked the bearings and seals, all were over greased and one seal was leaking. A little time and effort on my part and all good now, just repacked them again this past Nov. 13,000 miles this past year. Would like to make the rally but will most likely be in Glacier national park at that time. Happy Campin.... Again, welcome aboard.

Chuck
That's one reason I stepped up to a one ton SRW 2WD from a 3/4 ton, payload capacity. My previous vehicle had a payload capacity of 2,475, now the new one has a capacity of 4,400. Works for us. I also thought that weight for a 2500 was a bit much. It's amazing how the RV manufacturers juggle the numbers, most are just an average of the unit as it rolled out the door. There is always that little disclaimer in there: "depending on options". Yep, honey-do list has gotten longer and seems like the neighbors are always needing something when we are home, OH well, keeps me busy.

Gary, Here is a bit of info regarding vehicle specs and what things mean,it is Ram specific but you can plug in your own numbers. Congrats on your retirement plans, take it from one who's there,(it's great, love it). Happy Campin.... 2015 towingbasics.pdf (165.12 KB)

What is your battery voltage? My unit also sounds when the battery voltage is low. Depending on what CO unit you have. Took me awhile to find out why mine was beeping. On the front of mine in small print it states it will enunciate a "low voltage" condition. Now every couple weeks I plug it in for a few hours, no more beeping. How old is the CO unit? If I remember right, mine states to replace it every five years. Top left corner of unit lists the faults. Happy Campin....

jetzen, Had the same issue in our 315RKD, I drilled all the way through the shelf and bolted those rod hanger brackets. Been coast to coast since doing that and no issues yet. Our rod is full and most of the shelf too, next step is what you said if an issue arises. Time will tell. Happy Campin....

jbiii, Friend of mine had the sidewinder and loved it, his only complaint was that he had to be right in line with it when hitching up. Other than that he never had any issues. Another friend purchased an auto slider by Demco mfg, yes it's heavy but he likes it. Never has to get out to release it and slide it back. So I guess it's a matter of personal preference. Good luck on your decision. Happy Campin....

I carry a 7 footer with me, why? Most of all to keep me off the roof and limits the use of the rear ladder, "they will work themselves loose after awhile". I stow it in the basement storage. Use it mainly to access the awning and clean the slide out roofs when needed, not to mention washing the 5TH wheel while on the road. It works for me, guess that's all that matters. Happy Campin....

X3 on the Progressive unit. Purchased a 50 AMP hard wire unit for our Durango 315RKD, wouldn't be without one. Has saved us a couple times. Had a 30 AMP unit on our previous 5TH wheel, sold that to a friend when we needed the larger one and he is using it on his trailer. Simple to install if you have the room. I like the Progressive units because they protect against other electrical issues beyond surges. Well worth the expense. Happy Camping....

What was said earlier, look at more floor plans. Ours has the table directly across from the kitchen with a broom closet or shelves to the right of the fridge. 2016 Durango 315 RKD. Here is a picture of ours. There are three adjustable shelves in the tall cupboard next to the fridge, we just removed the two bottom ones. Small trash can and broom fit right in there. Next to the medicine cabinet in the bath, right side is two cubbies. No drawers. OH, just looked at the original post date. Been some time ago, hope you have resolved the issue. Happy Camping....

Vette78, We did the same thing in our Durango 315RKD. Wife didn't like the drab splash that came standard. Sure makes a difference. Here is a before and after, like you said was easy. Happy Camping....

I don't care for the new hold downs either, mine was stuck because of the excess black sealant oozing out around the flap. Once I got it open (a great accomplishment in itself) I cleared the extra sealant away from the edges and also trimmed the tabs on the frame a bit, they snapped in really tight. Works much better now. Happy Camping....

I purchased these from Wallie world (stainless drain strainers), pack of three, one large and two small, just a couple bucks as apposed to $10-12 at the RV store. Had an extra spring from the entrance step carpet, cut it to fit and works great. They have been on all summer. Happy Camping....
