Well you knew that new trailer smell would not last forever. We have had our new Durango Gold for 12 days and I have found a potential problem, hopefully I can cut it off at the pass before it actually becomes a real problem.
Inside the main clothes hanging closet there is a shelf that runs the width of the closet, directly below that shelf is the clothes hanging rod. It also goes the width of the closet and attaches to the side wall in a normal fashion with a flange and 3 screws, one flange at each end of the rod.
Under the shelf is two rod supports, these supports are screwed into the bottom side of the shelf and help support the clothes rod.
This support system is fine if you only hang about 10-15 clothing items. However the DW and I are long timers spending 4-5 months in the trailer and we bring a lot of clothing probably more than we need but none the less once you get over about 20 items the clothes rod starts to bow and put stress on the shelf. It then looks like one good bump and it would pull the shelf away from the wall.
So what I plan on doing is to make 2 supports from the floor to the underside of the shelf positioning them about 1/3 the distance from the wall. Now the only thing I need to find is what color to stain my supports to match the shelf trim.

jetzen, Had the same issue in our 315RKD, I drilled all the way through the shelf and bolted those rod hanger brackets. Been coast to coast since doing that and no issues yet. Our rod is full and most of the shelf too, next step is what you said if an issue arises. Time will tell. Happy Campin....

chuck,
Nash Ramblers??? Dating one self here, sounds like we know some of the same people. I should talk. I had a family member that drove a Metropolitan and another who drove a big ole Hudson Clipper. What a tank that car was, nice for its day. Talk about different strokes for different folks. Got to get out and start checking things, headed for the lake in a couple weeks. Happy Campin....
