The puck system is not a B&W feature ... it is a Ford option (there are others who make an under bed system ... mine is a Reese). The puck system (Ford's or other manufacturers) accepts all hitches with standard rails, usually with an adapter of some sort. I use a Hensley BD3 air ride hitch with my F350 SRW truck.

When we ordered ours a few years ago, we got no updates until the time it arrived at the dealer. Not sure if that was due to KZ or due to the dealer though. I had a similar experience ... so I suspect it's a KZ issue.

You are right sir you cannot put a price on safety. with that being said I have no idea why anybody would want to pull there 14 - 16000 pounds coach down the road faster than 60 to 65 miles per hour unless you have a semi to stop at with. and if I recall correctly I think Goodyear tire has a manufacturing plant in China. The tire debate has been going on for years and many more to come; seems like there is no right or wrong answer to this question. Safe travels to everyone. Goodyear does have a Chinese plant ... They make Marathon tires there. The G614 RST tires are made in the US at their (big) truck tire plant.

Hi to all, I'm new to this form, all forums actually, and I hope I'm not crossing any lines but I have a question. I've just purchased a new to me 2011 Durango 1500 D275RL just in time to store it for the winter. My question is regarding the Info Panel, the dealer demonstrated the usual water levels, water heater and pump functions but there's an additional switch labelled "Main Tank" & "Extra Tank" and they didn't now what function it preformed. I don't believe the trailer has 2 fresh water tanks, and as far as I know the propane tanks switch over automatically if both tanks are open. Can anyone tell me what this mystery switch is for? We're really looking forward to getting this unit out of storage next spring. Don't know if you ever got an answer, and this is a pretty old post, but here goes. The mystery switch labeled Main Tank & Extra Tank refers to the TWO gray water tanks your rig has. Generally the kitchen is the Extra Tank and the bathroom is Main Tank. You should have two separate gray water drain handles (one for each tank). Hope this helps.

You should get 120 V AC on the genny. Have you checked all the circuit breakers? The gen set usually two, they are located in the generator enclosure. Open it up and make sure they aren't tripped. Go back to you dealer or the person you bought it from ... bet they can answer your question quickly.

I second the use of PURE SILICON SPRAY. I have a six point auto leveling hydraulic system. I spray and wipe down all the landing gear rods, before I retract the gear. Those leveling legs are actually hydraulic rams which are sealed by wiper seals when they are drawn back into the cylinder. The silicon spray film (after wiping them down) keeps the wiper seals pristine with no abrasive grit ever reaching them, the legs themselves are corrosion free and free of pits. This keeps the system running like new with zero leaks. This takes about 5 mins each time I do it.

I pull a 2017 Durango Gold (41 foot 16,000 lbs 5th wheel) with a 2016 Ford F-350 4x4 6.7 diesel. I get 11 mpg at 60 mph and 10 mpg at 65 mph ... Faster is worse, slower is better in this instance.

I solved the hot water issue by replacing our OEM 12 gallon RV hot water heater with a Truma AquaGo .... on demand, never ending hot water with no scalding issues, no altitude issues or adjustments needed. It's expensive, but well worth it IMO.

I have a 381 REF that weighs 16,4000 lbs ready to go ... I pull it with a Ford F-350 6.7 diesel ... I use cruise control every chance I get. It not only maintains speed better that me, it greatly reduces my "workload" as the driver.

KZ (like many others), uses cost cutting as a way the keep competitive prices and maintain acceptable profit margins. I just wish they would quit skimping on tires .... Chinese tires are dangerous and until they can improve ... KZ should quit using them.

SteveO ... glad you're happy. I also have a KZ but mine is a 2017 381REF. It also came with E rated ST280/80x16 Trailer King tires ... made in China with a max speed rating of 65 mph. My wheels were also rated at max pressure of 110 psi. While I typically run 60-65 mph, it's good to know that if I need to jump up to 79-75 to pass or deal a short term situation I would like that, so I switched to Goodyear G614 RST tires 235/85x16 load range G speed rated at 109 Mph at 110 psi. Tires run cooler than my truck tires and I feel I have a LARGE margin of safety with both the load and speed ratings. Just a side note, when I changed the tires I discovered that the lug nuts had a "shiney" jacket of thin metal over the actual lug nut ... very wierd ... I changed all 32 of them for REAL SOLID METAL lug nuts. I run 110 psi and torque the lug nuts to 110 also ... torque is within KZ's range (90-120), and since it's the same as the tire pressure, it's easy to remember. Good Luck with your rig.

I have a Durango Gold 381REF and tow it with a 2014 Ford F350 6.7 diesel CC 4x4 SRW with 8 foot bed. Truck and trailer ride level ... I'm legal on weights unless I max out the trailer, then I'm about 500 lbs over GCVWR. Truck weighs 9,000 lbs ready to travel (bed has tools, ladders, hoses, air compressor, etc.) ... trailer can go to 15,000 lbs, but we're usually around 14,000. So with everything maxed out the GCVW is 24,000 lbs. and the truck is rated to a GCVWR of 23,500 lbs. So 500 over, but we're usually 500 under.

ST tires are maximum speed rated at 65 MPH ... running at 65 is like running you engine at redline all the time. With ST tires, it's best to run 55-60 MPH from a safety stand point. If you want to go faster there are several LT tires that are speed rated at 75 MPH (Goodyear G614 is an example).

Whichaway ... what you consider "overkill" I would consider margin of safety, and more of that is better. Your points about the weight are spot on. E rated tires are normally plenty as they typically come mated to 7,000 lbs. rated axles. A pair of E rated tires will carry more than the axle they are mounted on ... in theory. The problem with E rated tires (almost all of them) are ST (Special Trailer) tires made specifically for trailers and often made in China, Thailand or some other cheap labor country. All ST tires, no matter the load range, are speed rated at 65 MPH (maximum). The higher rated G tires are mostly LT (light truck) tires, often made in the USA and speed rated for 75 MPH (maximum). You can get by with Chinese made, E rated tires if you are meticulous with tire pressure, keep the speed to 60 MPH, don't overload the coach and get lucky. When it comes to tires, I'm not comfortable with "getting by". But to each his own.

Ours has the cold weather package ... but honestly, we've never "challenged" it. I assume it would weather down to zero (F) due to all water lines being INSIDE the heated chamber ... but not yet tested.
