Seems like I get really low gas mileage with my tow vehicle. I have a Dodge Durango with a 4.7L V8 engine with tow package to tow my 2014 Spree Escape 196S, dry weight around 2,800 lbs. What do you get for mileage?

Well, we have the 27 ft Sporttrek, dry weight is over 7000. We pull it with a Dodge Cummins diesel. Truck gets 18 to 20 empty, pulling the trailer, we have gotten 13 ( slight tail wind), to the lowest was right at 9 ( 50+ headwind).
Of course your mileage will all depend on the conditions, altitude, road, temperature, speed and of course the driver.
what mileage are you getting and the road environment?

I pull a Classic C190 (GVWR of 3500 lbs) with a Isuzu Rodeo and get 10.5 mph at a little over 60 mph (any road condition). I keep the engine at 3000 rpm which is the top of the torque curve. Solo, the Isuzu gets 17 in the city and 21 on the highway. It's got a 4.91 rear end.

You're pulling a barn door behind you, mpg's will suffer. Try to stay under 65mph for better mileage. It's a trade-off but the benefits outweigh the gas consumption.

I tow my 2015 speee escape with a 4.7 liter jeep grand cherokee., get 14 daily, but only 10.2 ave mpg while towing. I had a dodge ram years back and came to the concusion that chrysler products are work horses for towing but suck for mpg. I also got quadra drive 1 in my jeep, so it is also in fiull time 4 high , dosent help any ! I try keeping it under 65, (as the tires are speed rated for that anyhow) and rpm as liw as possible.

Does your Dodge have a tow gear option in addition to shutting off overdrive? That can help sometimes as well.

No matter what you tow with (except diesel) or what your towing (except a small pop up) expect 8 to 11 mpg. It all depends on how fast, how hilly and which way the wind blows.

Thanks everyone. We get anywhere from 8-11 mpg depending on conditions. Of course when it's windy we get less. I was just curious if we were getting average mgp while towing. Sounds like we are average.

I'm pulling a 3,500lb (empty) KZ Spree Escape with a 4.8L Chevy Silverado (3.23 gearing) and getting about 11mpg while keeping the speed at 60mph

I pull a 2017 Durango Gold (41 foot 16,000 lbs 5th wheel) with a 2016 Ford F-350 4x4 6.7 diesel. I get 11 mpg at 60 mph and 10 mpg at 65 mph ... Faster is worse, slower is better in this instance.

We get around 10-11mpg towing our Spree Escape 196s with our 2004 V8 VW Touareg. All our towing has been AOA 5,000' altitude. Have never towed near sea level so can't speak to that. Going up mountain passes we get 4-6mpg. When not towing we get around 18mpg highway with winter tires and 17mpg highway with summer tires.

I weighed my 382MBQ and is was around 15K loaded. I have a 2016 GMC 2500. I averaged 10mpg running around 70-75. If I'm doing 60-65, it struggles on hills until it down shifts. Seems do better at the speed because of the 8 speed transmission. Only issue is I think I'm a bit heavy on the hitch weight. Dry weight is 2000lbs which is the limit for that truck. You can feel it on the bumpy roads.

I pull a Spree Escape 196S (3500 lbs. empty) with a 1999 Chevy Astro, 6 cyl, 4.3 engine and I would say we get 8-10 mpg at 60-65.

Just as important is the range per tank of gas. Figure a minimum of 300 miles while towing.

Just get used to it, you want a play, your gonna Pay at the pump. 10 mpg seems to be the going norm in most cases

Gas mileage will vary depending on the speed at which you are towing, terrain (hills vs flat land) and wind conditions (headwinds will kill gas mileage). With our GMC Yukon we get 20mpg when not towing, but this drops to 10mpg @65mph on flat land to 6mpg in hill country.

Our tow vehicle is a 2007 Ford Explorer with the 4.0 V6. We just got back from our first trip checking the mileage on our new Spree Escape E170S and averaged 13.5 mpg. This was fully loaded with two adults and one child, and the round trip from Corona CA to San Onofre State Beach was about 100 miles. We had some hills on the toll roads but nothing I would call major.
The Escape dry weight is 2350; we had it loaded with normal camping stuff plus our personal items. I can't really estimate the weight of everything we carried but we were impressed not only by the average mpg but by how well the trailer towed. We do have a weight distribution hitch and anti-sway bar.

We have an 08 Nissan Pathfinder 4.0 V6 towing a 2016 196s. We just completed 8000 miles and 15 states from down the west coast, across the desert, through the heart land, up and over the rockies and back to Washington we averaged 11mpg. overall. Sometimes down to 8 and other times as much as 13 with a tail wind. We pulled into a closed weigh station and with the trailer hooked up and just the back wheels on the scale she weighed in at 3875. Seemed a little on the heavy side. We use a Anderson weight distribution hitch and airlift 1000 bags in the stern which popped in AZ.

I GET ANYWHERE FROM 8 TO 12 MPG DEPENDING ON TERRAIN AND WIND WITH MY 09 CHEVY TAHOE WITH THE TOWING PACKAGE AND 5.3 LTR V8. I AM PULLING A 2016 SPREE CONNECT 6450 LBS LOADED WITHOUT WATER. VERY PLEASED WITH THIS TOW PACAGE AND 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION.
