I'm putting this one on the bad list -
Specialty RV, Mesa AZ
No follow through on promises made to contact back, acted like he had better things to do than contact me until I'm ready to buy. Also sounds like he didn't want to even try to special order a unit the way I want it built.
The only Durango Gold Dealer in AZ, seems to have better things to do than contact me since I wasn't ready to purchase. At least that's the feeling I'm getting from them. They were supposed to contact me when a new 382MBQ came in so I could walk through it, answer some questions I had about it. I told them I wasn't ready to buy - I was up front about that, I needed some questions answered. The trailer was due in a few weeks ago, I texted the owner and asked if the trailer was in, he didn't answer. We took a chance the next day and drove the 2 hours to the dealership. when we arrived, we found him in the office, he hadn't checked if the trailer was there until we showed up. Well, it hadn't. We wasted a trip. He then assured me the trailer would be there in a couple of days, and he would definitely call me, my phone # was on his desk. That was over a month ago and I haven't heard from him. Further, he couldn't answer me for sure if I could get the trailer built like I want it, leaving out what I don't want installed. He said "that's how they come". If I have to "take it the way it comes", I'm purchasing used and saving myself some money. Maybe I'm being picky but we made a mistake once, I'm not making that mistake twice. I want to know what I can and can't get before I sign on the dotted line and drop $70K.

You sound like me; I want to =see= what I'm considering before I plunk down my cash. I know they're not listed as Gold dealers, but you might try giving Always RV in Mesa a call. They might be able to order one, once you figure out exactly what you want. 480-626-2231. I'm searching my old emails to see if I can find the name/number for KZ's western region rep, who I spoke to several years ago. If you could contact them, they might find a dealer that would have what you're looking for. I'll keep looking and post it here.
Hey, y'all, if'n anybody knows the KZ western region rep, please help me out. My Outlook is acting up and I can no longer search my emails so have to manually go through emails.

If I find that in fact the trailer or trailers (Specialty RV told me they had 13 382's back ordered) never showed up, I'll consider changing them from bad to good. I'm just waiting to see if I ever hear from them. I have a hard time believing the tow vehicle has stayed broken down in New Mexico all this time with a blown turbo.

Your problem was that you did say the magic words "I's like to buy" !!! Saying you wanted to look i'm sure he just thought hears another looky lue thought you drove over to see the trailer he more than likely still figured you only wanted to look an then buy from another dealer ...
To me this a dealer no matter what I don't think I would buy from, if I were that dealer I'd be tiring to promote the trailer even thought I didn't have it, an yes I'd be calling you as soon as it drove on the lot an I PDI'ed it for owners to look at such ... My other though on this is if he didn't want to answer the questions you ask about having it your way then I believe he just to lazy to find out an this is another indication of maybe looking at another dealer even if it was 5 or 6 hours away that would work for you ...

Gibbs Outdoor and Recreation, Waco, Texas: The GOOD
I bought my 2021 Durango Gold G383RLT from Gibbs. Andrew and staff went above and beyond to make the buying process as painless as possible. They took care of installing my ordered options and correcting my punch list items 10 days post-delivery...WHILE I WAITED! Very impressive customer service for any business and especially for an RV dealer. They don’t do a lot of advertising and therefore depend heavily on customer reviews and referrals. I recommend them.

I need to give a shout out to United RV in Haltom City TX. They carry numerous brands and have an excellent parts and accessories dept. I bought a refurbished item and the warranty expired. Faced with sending it back to the manufacture to replace, I reached out to the people at United and they exchanged it for a newer, all be it refurbished unit and agreed to send the original back to manufacture. That is above and beyond in my book. So if you need parts or accessories, look them up at unitedrv.com. Kirt

I felt the same way about Specialty RV. The sales guy is not on the up and up, however their mechanics/technicians are outstanding. We just bought a Durango G384RLT recently and they are very helpful in getting items fixed. Once you are done with the deal, it’s the mechanics/technicians who are important.

We went through Vacationland RV in Big Rock Illinois. They were awesome. We custom ordered just before the pandemic shut everything down in February/March. Even KZ manufacturing shutdown. Our sales person did his best to keep us up to date on when we might finally get the RV. I had also warned him about a few known issues with CONNECT C261RB, like the shower floor pan not being supported very well. Since I am 6'2" and 230lbs, I told them they should put some 2x4's short supports in, and they did. Makes all the difference, and probably took them only 10 minutes. I would buy from them again, if I were to be in Illinois.... since then we moved to Tennessee... and no plans on moving back

I will probably add more to this later as I have not even picked up my trailer yet. Once we finally settled on the Connect we shopped 2 McClains Stores, RV station in Tyler and Gibbs RV in Waco. None of the dealers had a ton of knowledge about the trailer when I asked questions. I was goign to order oen at first but ended up taking one off the lot as two of the the four dealers had almost exactly what I wanted. I told them exactley how I was shopping and that I was basically getting prices from three dealers. My expierences are as follow so far.
Good:
Gibbs- They have been great so far and they are who I bought from even though they are 2 hours 15 minutes from my house. T I called them and they answered my questions, but they weren't great whe returning emails. The first price they gave me was the price they had on RV Trader which was competitive with most. I called back after lookig at prices on RV Trader getting shipping quotes etc and they came down quite a bit right away, within about $500 dollars of an Indiana dealer. I called back after the other two bailed out on the price they gave me and agreed to do a high quality weight distrubution hitch for $233.00.
RV Station Tyler-They are about 2 hours from my house. They were very transparent, polite and got the information to me I was looking for. The original price was almost exactly the same as at Gibbs. When I called back they gave me a few hundred more off. They were very responsive on getting back to me. They just wouldn't ome lclose to the price that Gibbs gave me about $1,800.00 apart. They did say they would service my trailer no matter who I bought this one from.
Bad:
McLains Corinth- 15 -20 minutes from my house and has several locations around DFW. I wanted to buy from them. my original Sales guy had left so they gave me a guy who bragged about being the top guy. Usually the first sign of trouble. Then tried to talk me into takign a different model because of the shortage. When I asked him a question about why they didn't order any KZ trailers with electric Jacks, he was either ignorant or lied but quoted the price $1,150 dollars more than it cost to put that option on. I didn't go back. McLains brags that they take care of Customer's that buy from them and put the rest at the back of the line.
McLains Sanger- About 25 minutes from my house The Sales guy was extremely polite and I really wanted to buy form him. He was open and didn't push much. His manager on the other hand also fed me a line of crap and didn't know anything about KZ products. I still wanted to try to buy form them because of the convience and also buying local and would have paid a little more. I called for the pricing they couldn't give me when I was there and they said they had a great deal they came back with was almost $6,000.00 more than the other two dealers. I was asked what McClain was worth to me and my response was not $6,000.00. A couple of days later I called back to all the dealers for final pricing and they got me another great deal. Well not really They were $2,000 more than RV Station and $4,000 more than Gibbs.

I would give RV Outfitters in Nacogdoches, Texas an excellent rating based upon my dealings with them. We basically bought over the phone and online since we already had looked a lot and knew what we wanted, but the sales rep we dealt with was very professional, was not at all pushy, and answered every question we had, even if it meant researching it and calling back. He sent us tons of information and did an excellent job of keeping us updated through the whole process, and when we got there, everything was ready. I have a Rambox on my truck so I needed to have the Sidewinder pin box from my old fifth wheel (totaled in hail storm) transferred to the new one. The service department had a bay open, ready to pull it in as soon as we got there with the pin box. We did part of the PDI before they pulled it in then did the rest inside due to rain. They had done a good job prepping and cleaning the trailer. We found nothing wrong and I'm one of those guys who will crawl under one, crawl into the basement, get up on the roof, open every door, and look in every nook and cranny just to make sure. All paperwork was ready and in order. After they pulled it out of the shop, the salesman helped us move all of our supplies from the truck to the 5th wheel, and once again looked everything over to make sure it was ready to go. We haven't had a reason to go back and hope we don't since it's 600 miles, but they've checked in regularly to see if there's anything we need. While visiting with other customers, they all had the same opinion. Also, the price was the best I found anywhere.

I have to give a huge shout out to Robert Redman, at Redman Trailers in Bristol, CT. I made a mistake and had to have KZ overnight a part to him today. I dropped off my trailer yesterday, he called when the part came in and 2 hours later I was back on the road to Maine. Being 2500 miles from home and finding someone so quick to help out a stranger helps restore the faith that there are people out there who care about customers.
And for KZ themselves, the staff talked me thru the process, got my part out and shipped as promised. We live to travel on! Kirt

Good: Veurinks in western Michigan (Grand Rapids). Family owned/operated since the 1950s I believe and it shows. Sales was helpful, fair and reasonable. PDI was very thorough. Unit was in great shape at pick up. Service has so far been stellar: took the unit thru the scales and the weight distribution wasn’t great, only replacing minimal weight back to the steer axle - needed a drop shank to get it right and they gave it to us free and made the adjustment free because it was their mistake it wasn’t right from the start. Second issue was an epic storm revealed a leak. I was sure it was going to be awhile to get in because I overheard service on the phone when we were there for the hitch and they were scheduling into mid/late July. They asked what day we were coming home from the trip, we dropped it off that afternoon and they had it fixed, tested and ready for pickup in 3 days (we had another trip scheduled in 10 and they wanted us to have time to pack!) Not only that, they noticed a couple other minor things I hadn’t even seen, and took care of them while they had it there. Only been camping in it for half a season so far as we purchased this winter, but so far couldn’t be happier with the after-sale service. Definitely on the Good list.

For what it's worth, Specialty RV in Mesa never did return my calls. Now if I need dealer work done to my 2019, I'll find someone else to work on it. They're staying on my bad list.

Cliff’s Trailer Sales in Muskegon Michigan has been really good to us. It’s a smaller dealer but they are KZ exclusive. The owner, Cheryl, takes the time to personally know her customers. We were looking specifically for a 2019 or 2020 Connect 241 BHK. She helped us get one. They give us plenty of free advice. When we have needed service, it is always timely and done on time. Love this place.

Bought a 211C MKSE this July. Had four minor problems after our shakedown 4 day trip. Called our dealer-Bourbon RV in Bourbon, MO-as it is on the way home. They took it in and fixed the issues quickly.
Just got back from an extended five week trip to the Outer Banks. On the third night out we had a major water leak from a cracked fitting. Bourbon authorized repairs by a local technician, who fixed it on a Sunday morning (Tip: ask the campground who the local technicians are.) and we were on our way. I have been very pleased with the way Boiurbon RV has handled the issues that we have had.
