I had an over under kit installed by my dealer a couple years ago. I don't know if it was a Dexter or not. And I couldn't answer anything about installation. But I'm very happy with the result. No more worrying about my trailer bottoming out. You can see my experience here: kzfamilyforum.com/post/28201/thread

Thanks! I'm glad I asked. I ust assumed it was a distribution bar. I'll look for the amperage

I had a power failure when on battery and I tracked it down to a power distribution block on the tongue. Looks like water got it and it's rusted. Is there any reason to replace the distribution block instead of just hard wiring the two wires together? Or is there a better way? Thanks, Greg Attachments:

Thanks, I thought it would work but it's good to hear confirmation from someone else that's done it.

I've replaced the lead acid battery on my 160RBT with a lithium battery. I understand that charging from my tow vehicle alternator while driving is a bad idea. Can I simply disconnect the 12v accessory wire that comes in to the trailer on the 7-pin trailer connector? My previous tow vehicle did not provide 12v accessory and it didn't cause any issues that I'm aware of. In fact I accidentally pulled the breakaway cable and the trailer brakes locked up. So I'm assuming removing the wire will be fine. Any thoughts?
Thanks, Greg Crawford

It was $375. Not sure I can feel any difference in towing. I have a new tow vehicle too. At first I thought it felt like the trailer was being blown around more. But then I noticed it was a bit breezy. So hard to tell so far in the 45 minute ride home.

Dealers estimate to do the over/under kit is $375. Seems a bit high to me but I'm going to have him do it. The low ground clearance is getting a bit old. Should be done next week.

I have not, but I would really like some more ground clearance on my Sportsmen Classic 19BH. I'll let you know what the dealer says.

My 160rbt has very little ground clearance. I ran over a tree stump yesterday and broke the sewer hookup pipe. I talked with the dealer today and he mentioned an over-under kit to raise it up. He said it wasn't an axle flip but similar. He said he needed to take a look at my trailer to see if it can be done.
I'm dropping off my trailer Monday but I'm curious, has anyone had an over-under kit installed?
Thanks, Greg

Do I measure the diameter of the hub? And that's the size dust cap I search for?

Here's the one that didn't fall off.

I've discovered that one of the dust caps that covers the bearings in my axle was lost on a recent trip. Are dust caps all the same size? Or does anyone know what I would need for a 2017 160RBT?
Thanks, Greg

Yup, I have a solar panel. Definitively helps keeps my batteries charged. But I saw very few solar panels and lots of generators which led to my curiosity. The sites are wooded so perhaps that's why the generators are favored there.

Ok, thanks. So nothing unusual, just stuff I guess I don't use (so don't need a generator).

Didn't think of a shutoff value, good idea. Do you use a spray wand at home and just attach to a garden hose?

My 160RBT has a 24 gallon black tank. I'm trying to make a best guess as too how long we could camp. From experience I know 2 of us can go 6 days without overflowing the blank water tank. And I know the black water tank gauges are notoriously unreliable. So how do you know how full the tank is? Do you estimate gallons per person per day? Or just look down the pipe into the tank? Or is there a better method?
Thanks, Greg

I just got back from a week at a NY state campground with no electric (they have limited generator hours 9am to 11am and 4pm to 7pm). I have a small trailer (160RBT) and had more than enough power to last the week with just 2 batteries. But there were a large number number of people running generators everyday. These were typically much larger rigs than what I have so I'm just curious what is in these big rigs that requires generator. I didn't think it would be for AC since the generator hours are limited. Is it just that bigger rigs require more power and so need to recharge batteries?
I'm NOT trying to start any debate on the use of generators in a campground, I'm honestly just curious what people use them for. I have a small Honda generator but haven't yet found a need for it while camping.
Just curious, Greg

I just checked and I don't think I have room for anything bigger. So I'll stick with the 14" Endurance. Thanks for all the info.

I was considering the Goodyear Endurance tires, I've seen good reviews. I'll take a look at the Wrangler LTs.
