Hi mitchi
The DW and I looked at the front kitchen offered by M-----a and we loved the concept, however we are long timers spending at least 5 months in our 5ver and what we need is storage space, which this model lacks. It is also in a deficit in several other areas. Yes you are correct in thinking that the low ceiling would create a lower cabinet height, it also creates smaller cabinets, a lack of counter space and a smaller basement area. The bedroom is moved to the rear and there is very little clothes hanging storage and the washer/dryer area is in a weird place. And unlike the front living rooms which tend to be lighter in the nose, the front kitchens are nose heavy. I am only 5'7" so I am slightly challenged in the height department and know that it is a real pain to reach those upper cabinets, so I carry a 2 step step ladder and pack things that are used infrequently in those upper cabinet shelves. I like Chuck have a 384rlt and it is just over 40 ft long which seems to be the norm these days and when it is opened up this thing seems HUGE compared to other brands with similar floor plans.
However may I make a suggestion, come to the rally this year and meet with the KZ rep that handles the 5vers. He is a ex M-----a rep/engineer and he is brilliant and always looking for ways to make the product better and more innovative. Plus because I am biased I would like to see as many Durango's, Venoms, Montego Bays, Escalades and Stoneridge there as possible.

If it is an RV refrigerator will need to know what the ambient temp. is and what setting you have refrigerator it on.

My mistake, I see that they have redesigned. The bed on a Mega cab used to be 5'7". Would still go with a slider hitch on a short bed.

Is your truck a Ram Mega Cab??? If it is it is shorter than a regular short bed by 6"and I would recommend a slider hitch and then remember to use it. I have seen the aftermath of turning too tight and wrecking both the rear of the truck cab, rear glass and the front cap of the trailer when towing with a short bed.

Edd505, what is nice about Nu-Finish is you can apply it in direct sunlight without any adverse affects. Goes on comes off very easy. I also use a random orbit polisher to apply it.

2ndchance, did you look at the link I posted for that top coat stuff. It looks amazing but wondering if it is a lot of BS. Doing a 36 ft. 5th wheel with Nu-Finish takes me about 3 days and after I'm done I so sore and tired that I'm useless for another 3 days LOL. The new one will be 40 ft. guess it will take 4 days.

Chuck are you talking basement storage??? curb side or street side??? yes I know about the level-up controller attached to the curb side battery compartment door. Didn't know about/was not told about a remote for the level-up. I will inquire about that when I pick it up.

Edd505, I have come to the conclusion that there will always be something wrong and to be honest with you it also seems to me that the more expensive the unit is the more things you will find wrong. The DW and I were at the Tampa show this January for 2 days. We were looking to buy and had a few brands in mind. It seemed like the units that were show priced at like $90,000+ were not fairing well at the show. They were falling apart before your eyes. The Durango's, Montana's, Alpine's were holding up the best to show traffic. The Durango are not even close to being the fanciest, best equipped but they seem to be pretty solid units. Time will tell.

I am looking for 2 things for the 2017 rally.
1) anyone who is tech savvy that would like to be the official photographer and post the photos online
2) anyone knows where the KZ banner is from the past rally and would be willing to ship it to me

If you all are wondering what we are planning and what activities are available here are some thing that are in the works
I am in the planning stages of a factory tour not only at KZ but trying to coordinate with other factories such as Lippert and Mor-Ryde so that you can see your "whole" trailer being built sort of frame up. Also trying to plan luncheons with the reps from said companies for Q & A sessions and trying to set up factory service for any unit that needs help.
In our down time there are plenty of sight seeing and cultural things to fill actual weeks. Here are some of my favorites 1) RV Hall of Fame and Museum (obvious what this is) 2) Amish Acres craft fair, acres of craftsman making actual handmade goods 3) Menno-hof, Amish and Mennonite Heritage Museum, if you want to find out what make the Amish tick this is the place 4) Shipshewana flea market, I think this is the largest flea market in the USA 5) Red Door Tour of Notre Dame every door tells a story (walking tour) 6) Amish Heritage Tour, self guided auto tour of the area info at Menno-hof 7) Cabelas (for the sportsman in all of us) actually in Michigan but not far 8) Off the beaten path 100's of Amish furniture and quilt shops 9) Amazing restaurants.

Great idea for checking the trailer in it's closed position but what if it only leaks while the camper is open. It might be kind of hard to pressurize the interior with it's fabric eves deployed.

Water leaks are extremely difficult to find because water tends to wick and migrate. the best suggestion that I have is to go over every square inch of the trailer and inspect the seals and caulking and replace or recaulk everything that is questionable. Run water over the trailer open and closed and inspect the area in question. The best way that I know is to have the trailer open during a heavy rain and sit inside and watch. You may never find the problem though. I have a desk in my trailer and every time I went into it while not in use I would find a water stain about as big as a quarter on the desk nowhere else. Nothing else wet or stained. This went on for about 6 years I sat inside while it was raining and never found anything. Finally one year while cleaning the windows I found that the window drain was clogged. I cleaned out the drain hole and the problem went away. Something that small can cause you a mountain of grief.

Edd505, everything seemed to work as it is supposed to. the only thing I am not sure of at this time on the televisions is the satellite hookup and if there are any leaks from the roof or from missed caulking. I tried to go over it as closely as possible, I inspected all the places were I thought it would be possible to miss sealing and found none. The trailer had just been washed and I found no sign of possible water leakage. I know that is not a real good test but until the trailer sits in some very inclement weather you may never know if it leaks.
Chuck glad you found the problem with your slide but now for the 10 million dollar question, what did the 2 screws hold down???
