Guys, I have been mulling over a good way to tap into my RV propane line to add a quick disconnect for my Weber grill. I am tired of lugging an extra 20lb tank around and the small 1lb cylinders is just as big of a pain. Here is a photo of the business end of my RV's propane line under the camper. 2011 KZ Sportsmen 19BH. What I was hoping to do was simply add a 3/8" flare Tee to the end 3/8" flare connection (water heater), then install the Tee fitting there and reconnect the water heater line to that and then the new quick disconnect to the second Tee. But, I have not been able to find a female 3/8" flare to dual male 3/8" flare connectors. Is there a better way to accomplish this with out completely redoing the whole setup. The problem is that the lines are copper and I don't want to have to do a lot of re-routing or re-coupling. Let me know what you think. Thanks, Bruce

I just acquired a 24" LED TV that runs on 12V 3A power. It doesn't have the AC power cord/adapter with it. But, since it is a 12V TV, can I run it straight off the 12V system in the camper? Or do I need to throttle down the amperage being delivered to it to 3amps? I figure since it is already a 12V TV, why buy an AC adapter for it if my camper already has 12V.
Let me know the best way to hook this up in my camper. Thanks, Bruce

Lynnmor, I may get around to that at some point. However, right now, I have a lot going on with no time for a project like this for a while. I still have plans to add a quick connect port to my propane system that I can plug my Weber Q into. But, even before that, I have a lot on my plate. If/when I get the time and gumption for your plumbing mod, I will probably ask for a few more details before tackling the project. Thanks for your help.

Lynnmor, I just don't want to go through all that plumbing.

Hey all, as OP on this thread, I just wanted to come back and update the out come. I went ahead and purchased: www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XM5G70/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and installed it last fall. The install was simple even given the limited work area. I used it one or two outings last fall and twice so far this spring and it is working great for me. It only cycles when water is actively being used and doesn't come on between uses. It is also much quieter than the old factory pump and it seems to run easier when it does come on. Thanks to everyone for all the help and advice, I now have a trouble free water pump. I have wondered what to do with the old pump. I didn't want to just chuck it and I don't really care to try to fix the diaphram which is the most likely problem. So, what I have come up with is that I will mount it to a board and use it to siphon water from a portable water tank into my fresh water tank on the camper. I have had to manually siphon water before and it is hard to do and time consuming using gravity.

I was OP on this thread. I switched last fall and did have the need to use it. It was a convoluted situation where they could have denied me coverage based on the situation and how things played out, but they came through in a big way for me. Good Sam has my business for the forseeable future.

Oh, NVGUY, thanks for that. I will definitely look for the line under the camper. I agree that it would make sense to not have to go back through the wall or floor of the camper. However, if I tap into the section under the camper and install a quick connect, how do I keep it from getting full of road gunk and grime when pulling it?

nvguy: That is basically the same advice I got from another guy regarding how to tap into the propane line. Thanks.
This is going to be a project for next spring at this point.
Now, I have to figure out how to access the line to the outside. Any thoughts on that?

Thanks NVguy. I know a plumber that could help me with connections. But, do you know if there are any pre-installed connections on my particular trailer and where would they be. I already knew that the regulator on the grill would not be needed, which is easy enough. I can deal with that as I buy and refurbish weber grills, so I have a good working knowledge of the propane system on that end of the project. I just need to figure out the best way to get the gas to the grill from the trailer lines.

I have a 2011 Sportsmen 19BH. I was wondering if there was an external connection on the propane line for something like a grill? I don't care to drag an extra tank along and those little 1 lb canisters are just not cost effective. I was just hoping I could use the trailer 20 lb tank since I use it very little otherwise. Other than putting an adapter on the tank up front, is there a port to connect something like a grill somewhere on the exterior of the camper?
My guess is that it would be something that would need to be customized, but I figured I would ask.

OK, just got off phone with C/S and they said they are factory tested with water. So all is good.

Back to the original topic of a new water pump. I just received my www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002XM5G70/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1today and when I took it out of the box and took the protective caps off the intake and out-take, some water dripped out. Is that normal? Do they actually test them in the factor before sending them out or did I maybe get one that had been used and returned to Amazon. I don't want to install it until I know for sure, because if it isn't NEW, then I don't want it. Obviously, if someone installed it and used it and then returned it, they did so for a reason. I emailed Shurflo C/S but likely I won't hear back from them for a week or more. Let me know what you guys think.

Guys/gals, I have come to decide the problem is the check valve in the water pump. I realized that when hooked to city water, the fresh water tank slowly fills with water. (a couple days to fill the 20 gal tank). The only thing in my Sportsmen 19BH between the city water line and the fresh water tank is the water pump. So, in addition to losing pressure when running on tank water, it is allowing water to back feed into the fresh water tank when hooked to city water. That kind of cements my thinking that it is the water pump and not a leak in the water lines causing the pump to cycle when water is not being used.
So, my next question is: What water pump do I buy to replace it? Can I get any 12v RV water pump or are there certain specs that I need to be aware of? I guess I could pull my old one and try to find a replacement, but I suspect the exact model probably isn't even being manufactured any more. What do you all suggest?

I found several of the links in that article broken. I will revisit it at another time, but for now, I plan to either fix the pump or replace with new. THe cost of a new one shouldn't be that expensive, so I figure for the hassle, I would rather go new than risk a bad or going bad part that I would have to deal with again.
I am actually a member of RVShare and that article would be very helpful if it was updated.

lynnmor, you and the rest of the community on this forum are great. Suggestions like this are just great. I will try to fix the pump first and if not, then I will consider this solution vs buying new. THanks so much. Bruce
