About 20% of the 5th wheel weight is pin weight so the axle weight is somewhere about 12000 lbs. at gross weight and around 2500 lbs. pin weight. These are just estimated weights but should help explain how the load range on the tires for 5er's is figured out. You really need to take it to a scale to get the real weights---KZ's numbers are almost never accurate.

While your tires are probably "OK" as the pin weight is subtracted from the load they carry ... HOWEVER ... I, like you, find this disturbing. Manufacturers (KZ is no exception), use the load range tires that are just barely legal. I am not comfortable with marginal tires, so I changed out my (Chinese) Trailer King Load Range E tires to Goodyear (USA) G614 Load Range G tires. I run them at 105 PSI and they are speed rated to 75 mph. The OEM tires (ST) are speed rated at 65 mph. Money well spent IMO. Many people try to use the OEM tires until they either wear out, time out or blow out ... seldom in that order. Those were not good options for me so I popped for the tires and added a Tire Pressure and Temperature Monitoring System (TST flow thru 507).

Those Goodyear's are the greatest things since sliced bread, according to EVERYBODY. But...be aware that your stock wheels may not be up to the task. The Goodyear 14 ply inflation recommendation is 110 psi. I hope you can find (cast into the inside of your wheels perhaps) a stamp, which will probably tell you that 80 psi is the max on your stock aluminum KZ wheels. (The higher pressure takes special valve stems, too).
I have a 318 RLT on order, and I accidentally discovered that KZ actually will do the upgrade. The same wheel manufacturer makes the heavier duty wheels that still look like KZ wheels. But, since you already have stock wheels / tires, you obviously can't upgrade from new, as I was fortunate to do. Amazon sells these tires for ~300 bucks each, but wheels are a different story. You might be able to get a set from KZ - not sure if they will let you have them sans tires...
Good luck!

I just upgraded to Sailun S637's 14 ply G Rated tires(75 mph Speed Rating) on my new 17 Durango Gold 382MBQ, right out of the barn. I had them on my previous fiver. And they took me across country from NY to San Diego, Seattle to NY, without a hiccup. And the tread looked barely worn. And they are a lot less than the GY G614. However, you cannot compare ST to LT. The G614's are by far a much better tire. However, if you are on a budget, take a look at the Sailun's. I am not salty of this thread, so I am not sure if I can post where I bought them. I would be happy to tell you if it is legit on here. I will say for now that I bought 5 for under $800.
Just be sure, that if you upgrade to a G rated tire, whether it be LT or ST, or simply a better quality tire, pay the extra money for metal valve stems. Especially if you are using a TPMS System.

It is only visible with the tire removed as it is stamped on the inside of the wheel. The valve stems were changed out when the Goodyears were installed.
