Question for others regarding the One Control touch screen. On my DG 356rlt, the lack of responsiveness of the touch screen is beginning to irritate me (a lot). Turning on lights or bringing in the awnings takes forever. The phone app works great and responds the way a touch screen should, but every time I want to turn something on, I need to switch wifi settings, log on with the app, turn something on, then log off and switch back wifi networks. Turning a light on or off should not take this long. So a couple of questions please for those with the same system:
1. How well does your touch screen respond? 2. It appears the touch screen communicates wirelessly via the One Control router, yes? 3. Has anyone given thought to adding a few hardwired switches? I found one short youtube video of a guy who did it. 4. Is it a slow touch screen, or a slow One Control wifi network?
If I could have everything I wanted, it would be a fast responsive touch screen, and a full bank of manual switches for simplicity of operation.
Thanks for any answers or opinions.

I am no expert the LCI is new to me as well this is the first experience that I have had . We bought a Durango 2021 301RLT and it has the LCI . I agree with you on the simplicity of just having a hard switch for lights it seems to be a lot of work just to turn on a light . We have 2 awnings and the main awning is control by the LCI and the secondary has a hard switch ? So far the only problem that I have noticed is the main slide hesitating and stops part way through . I was told to make sure that we have a firm contact and do not let up on the pressure you are putting on the LCI . I am not totally sold on that but we will be trying it out again in a few days . I have also sent a note to Durango as well still waiting for a reply if I do not get one in a few days I will trying phoning and talk to a tech . Other than that we love they RV and everything else seems to work great . Best of luck Ken C

Our experience with the touch screen has been ok so far. My biggest complaint, is when you touch the home screen, all the icons move to another spot. Then I have to refocus and find the move that just moved. Also, when we have had to use the leveling buttons on the screen, that whole process seems very touchy. Twice or three times the auto level on the outside defaulted and we had to go in and do it from the pad. My phone app worked while, but now it needs to be reset. I think I would prefer old school switches and buttons, but of course I still like reading a newspaper! Safe travels Kirt

We can all thank the automotive world for this fascination with touch screens, every manufacturer seems to be racing to have the largest screen. I prefer old school switches. With that complaint out of the way, the touch screen in our coach will occasionally lose contact or make me retouch it to complete a slide room move. The responsiveness seems about average when compared to other touch screens. The screen is wired to the brain, or at least it is in my coach. Lippert replaced my original touch pad at a rally, so I got to see how it is removed and replaced- pretty simple procedure. I would try contacting Lippert, they might be able to lead you to a fix, as things like this tend to be beyond most dealers.

If they're going to go the total bling route, why don't the add Siri or Alexa or other voice command system? Personally, I changed my Garmin Nuvi from "voice command" to "hey dummy". :-) "Hey dummy! Extend the main awning. Hey dummy! Level the rig. Hey dummy, GFY." :-) Lyle

My touch screen works fine... but I still don’t like it. I haven’t done this yet as we just got home from an extended stay at the lake, but I plan to remove my touch screen, isolate the wires that I want to add switches to, then add them in line with the touch screen. I’m perfectly content with my awning controls and awning and cap lights being on the one control app, but I prefer switches for my living room, kitchen, and hall lights. I don’t necessarily want to eliminate it, just add the switches in line. I’ll post pics and let you all know how it works after I get into it.

I have a 2021 Durango and I find the touch screen very annoying due to very slow responses to fingertip selections. Many times it doesn’t respond at all. I use the phone app exclusively and it works fine for me.

I would not be thrilled with having to use a touchscreen to turn lights off and on. I would be doing exactly what you're planning to do- add switches. KZ needs to take a lesson from Ford (don't know if other mfg. do this), in my F350 lots of the touch screen functions are duplicated with basic switches.

And it really does work okay, I just prefer switches for the lights. Personally, I would prefer switches for everything, but I'm old school. I guess this is "progress". Jay

You type in the text you want it to respond to and save it to the unit. I was originally thinking of "hey dumba$$" but the wife didn't like that. I still find it strange that every once in a while, while we're talking, the command screen will randomly pop up and there's been nothing even remotely close to "voice command" or hey dummy". Still can't figure that one out. :-) Lyle

Jay I wouldn't mind having a screen that would =monitor= stuff; tank levels, 12v and 110v voltage, etc. Maybe have alerts for tanks getting full, voltage issues, etc., but controlling stuff, nope. Gimme switches. Lyle

I am not a fan of these touch screen/ management systems mainly because if you visit various RV forums, you will find that there are lots of DP / CL A owners who have "orphan" control systems- be it battery management or whole coach management. in short, you can always find a switch, a custom built circuit board, not so much. And even the new high end DP crowd seems to be plagued with coach management teething pains, some of which don't seem to easily fixed. Yes, I am old school.

My wife would say you have "anger issues". :-) Lyle Maybe I do, they drove much better when I was in my work car. Last weekend, on our trip to Laughlin, the only marked cars we saw were =in= Laughlin. We saw a couple unmarked AZ DPS cars on 93 that had people pulled over, but not a single marked LEO the rest of the trip. I sure wish they'd been out, though. I had at least 2 people pass me on 93 at 100 mph and a =lot= more at 80-90. I was driving, well, over the limit, and these people just flew past me. I =really= should have called 911 on the worst ones, though, as the pair were traveling together. Don't think they were racing, just being stupid. Had one other close call when someone passed over a yellow line right at us. Forced me onto the shoulder. I =really= need to get a good dash cam. Lyle

And surprisingly, also over Donner summit on HWY 80 (twisty mountain road). CHP writes a lot of triple digit tickets up there.

I guess people have tons of cash to burn. I know my truck's mileage goes up ~1.5 mpg by slowing from 65 to 62 while towing. My '16 Chrysler T&C van's mileage goes up by about 3 if I drive 65 instead of my normal 75 (on 65 freeways). It goes down another 1-1.5 by driving 80 instead of 75 on those stretches. On our recent trip to Laughlin, in the 2 fill ups, I averaged 21.47 mpg, calculated, for the trip. 23.16 on the way up, which included a drive through Bullhead City to go to Walmart and another drive to Oatman, on Historic 66. While driving, my average never once hit 27.
As an aside, I pick up my 5 y.o. granddaughter from kindergarten 2 days a week. There's usually 50-70 cars lined up to pick up kids, all running and all with their A/C running (now that it's hot). Can you say "carbon footprint"? Again, they must be some rich people to afford that. Me, a park on the street about 200 yards away and walk up. I swear, I'm going to paint a sign and put it in the street asking if any of these rich people consider themselves environmentalists and if they've ever, even once, considered what they're doing by lining up like this.
