For those with a model that has a built in patio, do you leave them down all the time? I saw a post on Facebook where someone mentioned they do not handle getting wet a lot very well so I was wondering what others do.

Good question, as I am new to the patio. Maybe a question for MorRyde? They have been helpful with helping me change the tension to make it easier for me to close. I love the extra open-ness it provides and I had mine open on the weekend and it was rainy, so will anticipate the answer.
I do close it when I am not there for several reasons.

Well they say these trailers are built to withstand the weather, just how much weather it will withstand is a great question ... I would leave our horse trailer ramp down sometimes weeks at a time, it had a rubber pad with 2x4 boards every so often across the ramp so the horse's would slip when wet... I had that trailer about 5 years an never had a problem, but it was a horse trailer an not a RV lol Another good question to ask at the Kz rally, marked it down on my question pad for the rally Safe Travels Chuck

I walked through a 371RLT a couple weekends ago. The patio deck looked to be made of the same materials as my 3311TQ Venoms ramp door. My ramp door is not designed to be left open in the rain.
I sure would get the manufacturers opinion.

I don't know what the back patio is made of on a Durango Gold, but at the Thousand Trails I go to, there is a Sandpiper with the rear patio and I have never seen the rear door up. It has always been in the open position. Would be interesting to know what the correct answer is.

I believe they are all made by MorRyde, so the deck is the same as the Venom as many other brands. I've seen people leave them down for weeks at a time at the park where I frequent but have not asked their opinion, as this is my first experience with one. I may contact MorRyde and see what their opinion is on usage, but it seems to be well built. At least on mine, the hinge area is not exposed and the sides are powder coated to help withstand the elements. Not sure if the netting is UV stabilized for long term sun exposure, which for me is a must here in Texas.
I will post any reply MorRyde provides, for all to review. But would still like to hear KZ thoughts too!

The ramp door on my KZ toy hauler is made by Lippert. Mine is not one of the kind that makes the patio, so it is never left open. As for the sun in Texas... I know what you're talking about . I've been here all my life.

I'm with Chuck's wife, after being stationed at Lackland AFB, Amarillo AFB, Shepherd AFB, and Dyess AFB and losing an x-wife there, which I'm NOT trying to find, I've had my fill of Texas.

Only state I know that it can snow in the north an you can get a sunburn in the south on the same day Of course it's only one of two states that takes you three days from the south to the north to get out off, the other state you have to cross the frozen tundra As well the sun shines at least 300 days year, not like the state we live in where it rains just about that much Yep, I use to have a wide brim Stetson an a tan an ride a motor cycle almost every day, now I have web feet an a canoe with water wings for our trailer Ugh Yep I long for rattle snakes, sage brush an red ants, sun shine, clear sky's an real Texas chili Safe Travels Chuck

I do remember the love bugs an mosquitos, always called them dive bombers because they were as big MorRyde people are really nice folks, we were camped right side of the MorRyde rep at the Kz rally last year, really nice guy, tried my best to talk him into a set of new steps for exchange for are old MorRyde but he wouldn't go for it ... He did say he would give me one heck of a discount ... George an Vickie did get a set to replace there fold out under trailer steps, looked nice an they got a great deal on them along with the hand rail The also provided a great lunch an free T-Shirts along with lunch at the factory tour, from what I hear we will have another tour of the factory this year again along with the Kz factory lunch an tour .... Not may spots left to sign up, I believe it's something you don't want to miss if you are able to attend ... great deals on stuff an lots of food, I thing I gained 10 pounds that week LOL Safe travels

All- After a conversation with a tech at MorRyde, I am told there are some material in the patio door/ ramps they use that needs to stay as dry as possible. I asked specifically if it was the mechanism or the mat on the ramp itself, and they just said "some material in the door". So if at all possible don't leave it down in the rain or if you are in an area that has heavy dew in the morning. They did not disclose what the material was, just that it would not hold up to being wet very well. They did not see an issue with it being down for extended periods of time in the sun, or any location that is fairly dry.
If anyone has a chance to talk to a MorRyde rep at the rally it would be interesting to hear what the mystery material is, if they will disclose it at all.
Hope this helps answer and understand the question!!!
