As ronc stated the attention to detail was way over the top by both Kz, LCI, MorRyde people. I have seen warranty work do before but never like what I saw at the Rally ... As I stated in another post, Big Ron not ronc's 5th wheel a Montego Bay was out of warranty but they still went out of their way to help him ... The other thing that impressed me was thay when our frig went out on a Friday the people at Kz were willing to store our food in their own frigs at home or at the Kz factory till ours was fixed even if it meant keeping it over the weekend, now how many MFG's do you think would do such Safe Travels Chuck

A little more info ... I spoke to Lippert today and I discussed the amount of flex that occurs when the rig is hitched up to the truck. Mine deflects about 1/8”. The Lippert rep told me that they consider 1/4” deflection as “normal”. More than that would require investigation. I’d like zero deflection but that’s not possible with the designs in use today.

I have to say Ron that's not much, but like you I would like to see no deflection, but that would mean welding a gusset along the length of the trailer or a bigger I beam which is thicker than what they have now Safe travels Chuck Attachments:

I'm having it looked at (along with a few other things) in December after the camping season is pretty much over for us... There are a few issues that were either not addressed by the selling dealership, or should I say not addressed correctly... On another note, I'm looking forward to trying to make the rally this year... I talked to some people at KZ, they are looking forward to seeing everyone again... sounds like fun... If you make the Rally this year, I have a Service appointment with Lippert, during the Rally, to measure the flex in my front end and add structural bracing if needed. That would be an opportunity for you to have them look at your rig also. I am by passing KZ and warranty requests and just doing this on my dime to get it done right ... to my satisfaction.

Seems like this is a common problem across the board with all the manufacturers in some way or another ..
If you read both on the Good Sam reflector or the Montana reflector the if flex of some sort in all of them no matter what brand ...
When hauling 30,000pd steel coils a number of years ago even that trailer would flex allot with three coils on, one in the nose an two on the back. It would rely flex with only one 30,000 coil in the middle, yikes ...
Safe travels

I agree that it is a common problem. I’m getting mine evaluated by Lippert (and strengthening as required) so that it doesn’t lead to structural failure in the future.

My service appointment with Lippert is getting flaky ... they need KZ to remove some panels so they can get access to the structure. I sent an email to KZ and of course I have heard NOTHING from them, so my ability to get service work coordinated between two companies seems to be a problem. It may not work ... frustrating to want to do the right thing, and be willing to pay for it, and they drag their feet and defeat their customers. This is beginning to p**** me off.
UPDATE: 27 Feb. Spoke with Lippert this AM and also got a contact at KZ ... the ball is now rolling again. My pin box area will be inspected and (if I choose) reinforced to strengthen that area ... which is a bit of weak area in most 5th wheels. I have read about many pin box failures and I hope that by being proactive, we will avoid that experience for us. Fixing it in a planned way will be much better than waiting until it fails (maybe) which will most likely be in a most inconvenient place and time.<style></style>

Edd
Ron is talking about the front of the trailer flexing over the pin box over the bedroom, some owners have excessive flex do to either cracks in the frame, bad welds which broke or in one case I saw in a Montana the sidewall supports broke away from the main frame ... It seem to be a Lippert frame problem across the board with some models an frames but not all ...
If you read back on this thread an I believe one other there seems to be a problem with welovedisney's Goldrush with allot of flex on the bedroom sidewall, I have as of yet seen any such in our unit ...

Chuck’s description is exactly correct. The second video link is very similar to what I’m experiencing, but the video’s movement is worse than mine. I don't hear any "creaking" like the video has.

the worst thing is that we brought up the part about how the decal would get a little crinkle in it, I had no idea of flex, they would flatten out the decal and that would be that,,, then when it happened again they said I was out of warranty now to get it looked at its a 750 mile trip, at least a week off work just to get it looked at.. weather they fix it or not... let me know what happens... thanks I'm just saying that the dealership (Parkview RV in Delaware) got over on me...

I know I can contact Lippert via email,, is there anyone I should try to get in contact with, or just a general email to the customer service department,, I have copies of all the emails to my dealership from day 1. I would not, I repeat not email Lippert till you get a name an have direct contact with them, I would call them direct, get the name of the person at Lippert CS you are talking with, explain your problem in a nice way... If that person your talking to can not help you ask for someone who or explain how you can get this problem worked out ... Once you get a person name in service then ask for their phone number an email address so you can send all the information you ... Remember these people get numbers of email's daily, your email may not go to the right person or be lost in the numbers of emails a person may receive ... Thus talking with a service person direct, getting their name an possible direct phone number they will pay more attention to your emails when you do such ... Lastly once you get to talk to a service rep do not rag on how bad their product is, only talk of how their can be a possible fix to you problem, explain in detail, tell them you have pictures etc, tell them you believe in their product but at times things go wrong an how can Lippert help you overcome this problem, but you also need to be all business as well ... Good luck an safe travels Chuck

The thing about warranty, is that most (not all) manufacturers view warranty expense as something that needs to be "controlled". So we customers view warranty as a customer assurance thing, and the manufacturer views it as an expense that detracts from the bottom line. This is why warranties are "limited". They'll fix some things but not all things. I worked for a major heavy equipment manufacturer who was having quality issues ... they jumped thru hoops to reduce their warranty costs ... finally, they asked a group of us what we thought they could do to reduce warranty costs ... I said "build a better product", you could have heard a pin drop.
