We've driven up and down the east coast and never had a problem. We drive an hour to a place we go several times a year and the pantry door must've come open and ended up breaking off in transit.
I'm going to call my dealer and see how much to replace and also contact a local cabinet guy and see about repairing it.
Then we're going to put a child lock on it so it can't open like that again.
Good times... good times.

I have always found a way to tie the cabinet doors closed when traveling. Elastic straps. Velcro straps, etc. Some like pantry doors have nothing to tie to and need some innovation. I also use plastic rods through drawer pulls. I don't think you can ever trust only the factory catches to hold things closed during travel. Child locks might be a good idea.

I'm guessing with time and usage the fasteners that keep the cabinet doors close loosen up so this could be a typical problem as a unit ages. I'm sure having kids that might frequently open a particular cabinet (where the goodies are located) might increase the likelihood of a problem developing.

Dealer ordered a new door for me, $150 bucks. I'm concerned about trying to glue the remains of the original one back together and it being strong enough to not cause any further problems.
