Hey folks .. I bought a 2015 KZ Vision and so far so good.
I do store outdoors at a storage site. I had water problems with a previous RV .. I'd like to avoid. I will go on top and reseal where necessary. However, what are you thoughts about an RV cover? Not a blue tarp - but empire or other that are designed to have venting. These are not pure waterproof (they seem to be very expensive) but I have to feel they would help, along with annual inspections and caulk resealing.
1. Good idea or not? 2. Recommended products? 3. Costs - I see anywhere from just under $200 to about $500
Mine is about 24ft. I'd feel better with cover, but first I'd like to get advice. I live in Pennsylvania, so winters can be harsh.
Thanks in advance

I've used an ADCO cover since I got my TT in 2012 on my 24' Spree Escape (cost was ~$230). It has held up well (will be covering our TT for the forth season in a few weeks). The major benefit for me is starting the new camping season with a clean trailer versus starting off having to clean mounts of crude (dirt, leaves, bird droppings, etc.) off the trailer. I'm guessing the cover also offers some UV protection helping to preserve the finish.
If the cover gets me through another winter in the Northeast the cost will be about $60 per year which in my opinion is minimal given the benefits.

It reduces the amount of water on the trailer which is a good thing. Any areas water can get into can then freeze and get larger. Water is evil... That being said, I cover mine every year Tony 2008 KZ Coyote 250RL

Cover it all you can. The sun does as much damage as any other element. To protect the cover, cushion any sharp points. To protect the finish, cover only a clean trailer and tighten the cover so it doesn't move and cause abrasion.

Ok, here's our dilemma: 3 weeks ago we bought a new Spree Escape E170S and store it at a storage lot - the same place we stored our popup. This is in Corona, California, and it gets hot out there. We had a cover for the popup which helped a lot. But it was an older unit - and not pristine by any means.
Now here's where we're undecided regarding a cover for the Escape: not only does it look like a major effort to put the cover on and take it off; we have nowhere to store such a big cover (no place at the storage yard for accessories like a cover) plus we'd need a couple of ladders to get it done. And nowhere to store those, either. Frequency of camping is another consideration. We literally camp all year and go out 2-3 times a month for short trips locally and a couple of times a year go on longer trips from a week or so to a couple of months. Now that we have the TT, I can see us being on the road even more as it's so much less work than the popup.
So would it be worth it to get a cover considering how often we travel? Or would it be better to just take the trailer to a truck wash in a regular basis? What do those of you in similar circumstances do?

I built a pole barn and always keep it indoors when not being used. I would suggest that you find another place that has storage under a roof. I used a cover before I had the barn, it took a lot of effort to use it. I think that more damage is done to a trailer in the summer from the sun, than from the winter weather.

Nancyanddan: when you retrieve your trailer from the lot, do you then take it back to your home to load it with food/gear? Could you maybe bring the cover/ladders with you for that trip, and swap the cover for food, and leave it at home?

No. The trailer has to stay at the storage lot as we have nowhere on our property to store it. We are one of two houses on a 50'x150' lot in a densely populated area. We're fortunate to have a 2-car garage and a backyard.😊 I think what we've pretty much decided to do is to have it detailed once we return from vacation (we leave next week) and then take it to an RV/truck wash on a regular basis.
