We have a KZ Sportsmen Showstopper S242SBHSS and I need to make a few modifications to make it handicap accessible. The primary mod I want to make is to add grab handles in the bathtub. Has anyone tried adding these handles in an RV? I have seen handles on the internet that attach using suction cups but I don't know if the bathtub surround is strong enough to support weight transferred into it by suction cups. I am leery about drilling hole to attach a handle too. Has anyone tried either method? Also, my trailer came with the TP holder in a bag. Any suggestions on how to attach this to the wall? Thanks for any assistance. Larry

Hi Larry I would use vertical grab bars if possible. Just normal stainless ones. Screw them into a stud. Silicon everything good. If you need horizontal ones , if your shower walls are not one piece, you could take out the panel and put some backing in there.
As far as tp holder, you can mount wherever you like. Try to hit a stud or use butterfly nuts on the back side. On mine I hit a stud on one side and just gently screwed the other side into the panel. Been holding well. Same with towel bars I added. Anything permanent you can also add construction adhesive. Things like pictures etc we use Velcro .

I mounted a cheap plastic stick-on TP holder on the inside of the vanity cabinet door. This kept it out of the way and dry. The paper can hang over the top or out the bottom of the door.
If you have the fiberglass exterior, there are probably no studs on exterior walls to attach a hand rail. Perhaps you could attach a handhold just outside the shower on the interior wall. There it might be possible to open the backside of the wall and add reinforcement.

Thanks for the ideas. However I'm not sure that either of the ideas for the grab bar will work. The exterior walls of the TT are fiberglass and as Seasonal RV'er mentioned, I don't think there are any studs to attach to. The idea to mount the grab bar to the interior wall is good, but in my TT the toilet is on that interior wall and one would have to lean over the toilet to use the grab bar when exiting the bathtub. The idea of putting the TP holder on the inside of the vanity door is great, and I plan on doing that. Thanks again for the responses. Larry

I have seen stand alone BathTub Safety Grab Bar's from different retailers, some that even attach to the tub. Not sure if they might work for you. I don't know If it's proper to put the link to a retailer on this site but would be happy to send you one of the links I found if you want to message me. Bob

I tried the suction cup grab bars and had mixed results. They hold for awhile, but once they lose their "grip" they aren't reliable anymore. As for studs, many of the campers (especially KZ's) have aluminum "studs", which are almost impossible to find. If you can find an area where they are obvious, then that works.
My 2 cents

Can anyone tell me how long KZ Customer Service usually takes to reply to customer inquiries? Would I be better of calling them? Thanks Larry
