Buying a 2015 Durango 2857. My truck is a 2015 Chevy 2500 HD with the 6 1/2 ft bed. Question is do I need a slider hitch, a kingpin extender or will I be fine.
Any input is appreciated.

I pull my Durango with a 2004 GMC dmax, also with the 6 1/2 bed. I put a Pullrite slider in my truck because of the many horror stories I read about not having the slider hitch. I can make a 90 degree turn with mine and the camper is at least 8 inches from the cab. I think my slider moves about a foot when at full turning radius. The fact that the Pullrite does it automatically makes it a "no brainer" for me.

I pulled my 2010 Durango 1500 with a short box half ton Chevy, using a Sidewinder hitch. I put over 20,000 miles on the system and, being a newbie, got myself into some spots tighter than a more experienced operator would have allowed. I never had any problems with the Sidewinder. It's inexpensive, easy to install, simple, rugged, and you can't "forget" to use it.

I would not use a king pin extender. There are some people that have had problems with their pin boxes breaking lose on Lippert frames and it seems that it will put more leverage on the pin box supports. I measure my Inferno and when I hitch my trailer on the truck it moves 1/2" compared to the front cap. When I drive down the road I can see the cap and the pin box moving independently of one another. It does not look right but I had it checked out and the Lippert Rep said it is within their specs and that you want some flex. The Lippert Rep also said they have not had any KZ frame failures. But if you want to check out what other people have dealt with just do a search for Lippert pin box failures. I would definitely use a slider hitch in a short bed I watch a guy last year it Florida crunch his truck cab and 5th wheel, things can go wrong in a hurry it will cost more to fix all the bent up stuff than the slider will cost.

My Nissan Titan also has 6.5 foot bed and I optioned for a slider following the old adage "It's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it." You never know the angles of some campgrounds and you DON'T want the front end of your 5er in your truck!

I pull a Durango D259RDD with a 2500 HD with a 6.5 foot bed and the 6.0 gas engine. I had an older valley slider. It had developed some play and even after adjustment it was really noisy and had some chucking. I went to Discount Hitch and purchased the PullRite 2400 ISR. It was the best purchase in a hitch I ever made. First, it is rated at 20K and it weighs less than 60 pounds. Easy in, easy out when you need your bed. It has an adapter for the pin box with a ball (this stays on the pin box). The connection to the hitch is so snug that chucking is really eliminated. The shape of the front cap of my Durango eliminates the need of a slider.
