I stay in truro Cape cod . My tv antennae barely works. Any recommendations to help? Either add on to my winegard antennae or a good indoor model?

Hi aceman. Not familiar with your area, but did you raise your antenna and is your booster on? Should look something like the image below. When you press the little black button, a light should come on telling you that the booster is activated. (NOTE, make sure you turn this off when not camping as it will draw current from your battery) When that is lit, try to program your television. If you still aren't getting anything, check with other campers around you and see if they are getting any reception. If they are getting reception and you aren't, then it would be time to start checking your wiring and make sure everything is connected properly.

Thanks JohnR I have raised the antenna and turned the booster on . Thanks for the advice . My setup is the same as the picture you posted. I have talked to other campers and reception is tough where we are ( probably 70 miles or so from Boston) I get about 6 channels ....ion, hsn , etc I am trying to get network stations from Boston or Providence

Sounds like maybe you need to look into a satellite dish for the area you're in. 70 miles is a long way for a television broadcast depending on the transmitter. Good luck!

When RV'ing, I use a helpful Android app called "TV Antenna Helper Free". It shows Truro, Cape Cod, only has 2 potential stations. Of those 2, only one appears reasonably possible. It is WDPX-TV ch 58.1, 26.1 miles away, bearing 230 degrees. The other is WLWC-TV ch 28.1, 47.7 miles away, bearing 266 degrees, which probaly is quite marginal. The other stations are 64+ miles away which are likely not receivable on a typical RV antenna. Rayl (retired TV broadcast engineer).

If you have the bat wing style antenna, you could add a Wingman to improve reception. With this added the antenna will become more directional so proper aiming becomes more important. If you have a seasonal site, perhaps you could install a large rooftop antenna next to your RV.

Traded the bat wing for the King HD, got 18 HD channels in yard, prior to trade, none.

Hi, I'm not familiar with King HD. Is that an antenna add-on or a dish?
Thanks!

Looking at the size and specs for the King HD and comparing it to the Wineguard with the Wingman option installed, I see no significant difference between it and the OEM Winguard with the Wingman option. They both have a few additional UHF elements added in front of the original dipole elements for some measureable antenna gain. They both have fairly high gain powered antenna preamplifiers. The similar physical sizes indicate there can't be a lot of difference in performance. Location and distance from the TV stations are the biggest limitations with these RV antennas. A physically much larger and higher antenna with preamplifier and low loss antenna cable will almost always be better for "off the air" reception. Not very practical for a traveling RV, but doable if you are going to settle in one place for a while. Cable TV or satellite systems are usually necessary in these fringe areas.

70 miles is a stretch....even with the wingman added. Where I camp in the winter I can get a few stations 50+ miles away with my wingman added on but even then weather conditions and things like that can make watching those channels not a lot of fun.

Nice. Where did you buy it from? Was it hard to install?
