I have a 2012 Spree 261rks with a factory installed jensen AM/FM/CD player which has begun cutting itself on at random times. First thought was some sort of timer but the manual makes no mention of that. Used it several weeks ago and the problem did not exist then. Anyone ever experienced such a problem ??

For clarification, you mean turning itself on? My initial thought was dealing with power surges. I'd try putting a surge protector between the outlet and the radio.

I just had another thought as well. Did your Jensen come with a remote control? Could someone near you be operating a remote at the same frequency that your radio is listening to? Could something be wrong with your remote? I'd remove the batteries from your remote, and if it keeps happening you know at least it isn't that.

First thought was some sort of timer but the manual makes no mention of that. Used it several weeks ago and the problem did not exist then. Anyone ever experienced such a problem ?? We only took our unit out twice and only played one CD but I think it stopped playing by itself. It did not shut off and we had no problems with Blue Tooth from a phone. I did have one speaker not working and the dealer was supposed to fix it but didn't. When I took the speaker out one of the wires was not crimped and fell off. I pulled out the radio which was a problem because the antenna plug is on the top and in the way. In our unit there was a piece of wood trim on the side of the cabinet which was just stapled on so I pulled it off for access. When I put it back on I used Velcro so that problem is solved. Anyway I was quite happy to see nice Crimp connectors on all the wires. Maybe one of yours is not crimped like my speaker was not crimped. I also found that the Jensen has an aux RCA Stereo input in the back which I plugged the TV into so now I have lots of sound. I plan to borrow 12 volts from the stereo and put in a USB charger but for now I can use the USB plug on the TV to charge my phone but that only works when we are plugged into AC power.

If you put your hand in front of it and it does not work then its Infrared and I doubt a neighbor could control your radio. If you can cover it up and still control it then its RF (radio frequency) and then its a possibility. RF is more expensive to build and uses more battery my bet is that its infrared LED.

I read on another forum that a power surge could be the culprit??? Do you have a surge protector in line?

thanks for the replies/suggestions -I found that the problem existed only when connected to the tow vehicle- when disconnected it stopped cutting itself on...
