I have a question regarding water heater. I have a Spree 322RES, when I set up and hookup the TT, after making sure the water heater is full of water and water is running out of the faucets, shall I turn on my water heater on and leave it on during my stay duration at a camp site! OR shall I keep it off till I need hot water. thank you

Just leave it on. Or you can turn it off. Does not really matter. Just make sure to run the faucet before you flip the switch.

I always leave mine on. Nothing compares to spending all day outside and coming in expecting to get a nice hot shower, and there's no hot water because I forgot to turn it on.
Are you concerned with running it on propane and using up the gas? What's your concern with leaving it on?

Main thing is if you have an outside shower. Always remember to turn this off at the faucet handle and not just at the wand. Otherwise you will have cold water running into the hot water tank with the result of lukewarm water.

hello, my concern is: someone told me to turn it off so as not to damage the unit. I don't run it on gas, electric only. from the information above, I am assuming the unit is automatic once it reaches the set temperature it shut off (same as residential water heater)

I turn ours on as soon as we are set up and do not shut it down until we are ready to break camp. Just remember to shut the power to the WH off when you turn off the water supply because if you energize the water heater without water in it the heating element will burn out and have to be replaced.

I've never heard of damaging a water heater because you leave it running. I find that more people have trouble when trying to run them on propane because there are more parts in the way that can go bad. I always try to run mine on propane once every couple trips just to make sure everything is working properly. It's no fun getting to a place where you need to heat your water with propane and it doesn't work.

Mine runs on electric for months at a time. As long as you have water pressure. If we are actually camping as a family, not just me using it for work, we will run the gas and electric together if several people want to shower one after the other. WH will recover in just a few minutes. Then turn it back to electric only when everyone is done. With gas and electric, we take showers, do dishes, and laundry almost at the same time.
