I have a KZ Sportsman 190 travel trailer. I would like to add electrical power when off grid. I'm thinking about adding (2) 6 volt golf cart batteries (probably Trojan) with a battery cut-off switch. I'd also like to have some type of charger to keep the batteries charged. What battery, charger, and battery case holders (the golf cart batteries are taller than 12 volt) would you recommend?
In additional to the DC power supplied I'd like to upgrade the power converter to be able to run microwave, TV, hair blower, etc. without the concern of blowing a circuit. What amperage/watts and product should I be looking for? Will I need a generator to accomplish this or is there another less expensive method to keep the electrical system charged (trickle charger, solar, etc.)? Lastly, is there a product I can see the amount of draw on the system?

Hi, We use the 2-6volt golf cart battery system when off grid. We have a KZ Spree 261 RKS...the batteries have never failed us on 4-5 day trips. I don't know how long they would last as we haven't run out of power. We do not have to re-charged during that time. Of course, we are careful about use but it works great. We purchased taller battery boxes through our RV dealer. Just to be on the safe side we take the fully charged RV battery with us as a backup....have never needed it but it is nice to have the extra with just in case.

Thank you for the information. I may not need to go to a generator or more amperage. I like the idea of the extra battery, but again you haven't needed it. What are you using to recharge your batteries?
