Hi, Has anyone purchased and installed one of those Fan-tastic vent upgrade kits with the auto opener and remote control? They make it seem pretty easy online, but am wondering about real world experience. Any leaking as result? Any other random thoughts? Fan-Tastic Fan Upgrade KitThanks! John

I replaced a ventline cover only with a fantasti fan. The hardest part was removing the old sealant. Just make sure that when you install the new fan that you use plenty of new roof sealant. Just gob it on. It does not have to look pretty.

The directions on the upgrade say that you don't need to break the seal. Just work from inside the camper. That's what I'm not sure about. Seems fishy.

The upgrade kit is for an upgrade of an existing Fantastic Fan, not a replacement for a vent.

Yes, I have a manual Fantastic Fan in the bathroom. It's too high for everyone except me to reach, and I was considering replacing the entire fan when I came across these upgrade kits.

I agree our Spree 300 RLS also has a vent in the bathroom that nobody can reach. I know they make an extension know and long handle for it but a remote is what I want like a Maxxair fan.

I have an automatic fanistic fan in our RV and it looks like you would only be replacing the guts which would fasten to the existing cover where the hand crank is fastened. If that is the case you would do the whole install from inside and would not have to do anything on the roof. That is what it looks like to me but it is only a guess[/b] based on what is in our RV.

That's what I think too, but I'd like to confirm before I plunk down the money and then find that component XYZ doesn't work with the thingamagig.

Vents come in a few standard sizes. I measured the inside opening and bought an upgrade kit. (Heng's Vortex II Upgrade Kit is what I bought because of reviews and $$). Installs from inside the rv without removing original rooftop vent body.

I too have the Maxxair remote controlled fans in mine and they do appear that the kit could be installed from the inside, but since they came pre-installed in our trailer I have no real world experience with the conversion. But they work great!
