Johnr, thanks for the bucket tip, but who's the rv engineer that thought a good place for the low point drains would be be center of the trailer between axles!!

That's an odd place for low point drains. I'd have to say it's an engineer who has never owned and RV before.
If you recall a few years back, Harley Davidson almost closed up shop. People weren't buying their motorcycles anymore. Why? Because decisions were being made by people in suits who did not ride motorcycles. Instead of closing, they fired everyone on the board of directors and brought on people who lived and breathed motorcycle riding. This new board of directors completely changed the company and made their brand popular again.
You can't have RVs designed by people who don't own RVs and who don't know RV owners. Yes, there are laws of physics that must be followed for the unit to hold together and be towable. However, tiny tweaks here and there can make or break the owner experience.
Not installing hot water tank bypass on all RVs may save them a couple bucks, but the owner will have a negative experience as well as extra time and cost (a lot more than factory installed) to get the job done. Putting the low point drains in the middle of the camper causes the owner to have to crawl on the ground to open and close them. What will that owner look for the next time they buy an RV? Will they look at other brands that have what they need out of the box?
Even on the cheapest units you can begin building brand loyalty with that customer by anticipating their needs and understanding their pain points. The CEO of the company should willingly tow and camp with each unit they produce. They should be required to perform maintenance and winterize each unit. A simple checklist could come out of such an exercise that supplies the "must have" on all RVs to make life simpler for owners and build brand loyalty.
