We have a new KZ Sportsmen Classic 190. We are loving it except, the roof a/c is pretty close to the bed. No matter how we adjust the louvres I am still getting hit in the face by really cold air. I don't like air hitting my face. The "low" on the a/c is not really low (perhaps they should have had another level such as "really low" or something LOL)> Anyway, I am looking for ideas to help out. We thought about putting blue painters tape on the one side that affects the bed but we are concerned blocking the one side my damage the a/c. Short of sleeping with an umbrella over my face we can't come up with anything. We are mainly in Ga and Fla and do need the air. My hubby doesn't mind the air hitting him so much but it is stopping me from sleeping. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!!!

We also have a new unit with roof mounted air. We knew the trade off of getting cold air to all of the unit versus the high air flow you discussed. We are installing "privacy" curtains in the front and back of our Sportsman across the sleeping area and dinette/sleeping area. I would not trade the roof mount air for through-the-wall unit. But I agree they should offer a lower btu roof mount unit with a "slumber" air speed.

I know it might not help out your draft problem, but chaning out the thermostat to a digital unit will greatly increase the accuracy of the unit. I changed mine out with the factory replacements from Coleman Mach and what a huge improvement. Before it would shut off at a temp too cold and wouldn't come back on till it was getting warm (too wide of a deadband). Here's the thread: kzfamilyforum.com/index.cgi?board=kzadmod&action=display&thread=11

majorloser knows of what he says. I followed his lead and installed the better thermostat. It works great!
Can't help with the other issues.

see "Privacy Curtain Tracks". This may provide a solution to reduce air flow. And turn the AC vents closed. I contacted the AC manufacturer. There is no way to reduce the fan speed. It is set to prevent the unit from icing up during the cooling mode.

Our 190 does not have a thermostat! You can just turn on the ceiling unit to fan hi fan lo cool hi cool low etc. Very frustrating. I took a adjustable 6' shower curtain rod and put it across, in front of the a/c and put on kitchen valance curtains. This blocks some of the air from hitting my face but frankly this is kinda crummy. The adjustable rod has come down on its own a few times, clunking us on the head, scaring our doxie etc. It really is a nuisance. So, we just might trade in our 190. Unfortunate but we have had it in the shop 3 times for electrical problems an the a/c fan replacement. So this is just the icing on the cake for us.

See my Sportsman Modifications for curtains you can put up front and back. They provide privacy and reduce the air flow. Attachments:
