I have a 2012 Stoneridge 38FL and the specs say it has a 9680 lb dry axcel wieght. I am trying to calculate what tire to put on my trialer to replace the factory ST235/80r16 E rated tires. E Rated tires from what I see on the internet are rated at 3500 Ibs at 80 PSI.
My question is this, does the 9680 lb dry axcel wieght a combination of both axcels? If so that would be 4840 lbs per axcel making the tire wieght distribution 2420 lb. So an E rated tire should work fine even at Max GVWR of 15,000 minus 20% pin wieght = 12000 = 3000 lbs per tire. Am I calculating this correctly or should I upgrade to a 17 inch wheel package and G rated tires for safety?

I would not even consider using the dry axle weight when you choose a tire. What you need to do is weigh the fully loaded camper both hooked up to the truck and also alone. Remember, when it's not hooked up to your truck, there "may" be more weight on the axles, although obviously not as big a consideration as when hooked up and towing. There are tons of information about which tire is right and which tire is bad. I won't get into that, but any decision made outside of the actual loaded weight doesn't mean anything really.
When I weighed my rig, I was amazed at how much it weighed fully loaded for a weekend. I was within limits, but it weighed a LOT more than I anticipated.
My 2 cents

Thanks for the advice. I have been doing alot more research on the RV forums. You are right loaded trailer wieght is the number to base tire choice. I did discover that I have 7ooo lb rated axcels but my rims are only rated at 3200 Ibs at 80 psi. So if I go for extra safty and a grat tire which is the G rated Unisteel G614 good years I will have to upgrade my rims to P09 level from P06 level to handle 110PSI. I am going to have th trailer wieghed at a truck stop on my way home to get loaded TW and axcel wieghts loaded.
KZ customer service told me they are now putting the Goodyear G614s on all the top of the line traiers now. To bad thye used Chinexze junk tires before that .

I would use the GVWR less the pin weight. I would definitely weigh your FW and TV regardless and if you can, you might try getting weights for each side of your rig. You never know how much you will load into your FW down the road, plus you don't know how reliable the CCC is that KZ states. On a previous Spree TT, our actual weight was just 200 lbs away from the GVWR when all loaded up with empty holding tanks, one battery and stuff inside for a short duration trip. If you want lots of tire advice, go to RV.net. BTW, IMO, it's not about where tires are made but more to do with how you treat them. Good info. from a former tire engineer at RVtiresafety.com
