Love this unit. Looked for 2 years to find the floorplan we liked. Just returned from our first trip...looking forward to many more.

This is the unit we just bought also. Expected delivery is this coming Monday! We are excited! It will be our first camper ever. Years ago we stayed in tents and on boats. Too old for that stuff any longer! This will seem luxurious!

We love this unit ...we were slightly disappointed to find we could not use the bathroom while taking short stops on the road without opening the slide slightly...not a serious problem. It was suggested to put a hook in so the door could ride in the open position when the slide was in and then the door would not swing. The hook we used could not unhook when traveling. This allowed us just the little extra room we needed to get through to the bathroom easily. Now the trailer is perfect.

We never actually tried the bathroom door with the slide in before buying, but it appeared that I could make it without putting the slide out. This was/is a big deal to me. I have "small bladder" syndrome, if there is such a thing! LOL! So, if we do find that I can't get in there without pulling out the slide, it's good to know there is a solution. Thanks for the tip!
Tomorrow's the big day! We have a list of things to buy to stock it up and we'll be taking our maiden voyage on Thursday. Just going for a short trip (a couple nights) first time out for a trial run.
Did I mention that we are excited! ;D

I added a pleated door right thru between the bedroom and bath. This is a great solution with many advantages.

ronandjill... We didn't check either, when they show the units most times the slides are out. I have friends who have a 5th Wheel...not a KZ, they can't use their refrig/kitchen or dining area with the 2 slides in, they didn't realize this either until it was in their driveway.....we eat at rest stops a lot, I would hate that.
Have fun on your first trip....I hope you enjoy your unit as much as we do. Keep us posted.
Lynnmor: We will keep that idea in mind.

Well, our maiden voyage was a success! We did have a few kinks to get worked out. -- The upgrade to a porcelain potty was installed without the flange, so we couldn't use it, but, fortunately, we were in a relative's yard and just used theirs. (It was fixed on the way home when we stopped back at the dealership.) It took some tweaking to get the sway bar properly adjusted, and the light switches were not all going the same way, so Mr. Fix-it (the Hubby) took care of that too! We have a scratch in our shower door, and most likely they will replace the door. We want to change the top drawer space in the kitchen to an actual drawer. What's there now seems like a waste of space. And although it has a 40 gallon tank, we were only able to accesss about 2/3 of it, and we were not hooked up to water. That is something the service department is investigating for us, as we will often be at places without hook-ups. That's all the problems we encountered, and so all things considered, it was a GREAT first time out! We love it! There was lots of room in the fridge and it was really cold. The shower worked great. The Katching Zz's upgrade was a good idea - we slept great. There's so much storage space. It'll be great for travelling around the country. So, an excellent choice for us!

You will find that the water comes out the 2 vent hoses whenever you go around a right hand curve. This is a faulty design and, to date KZ has not come up with a solution for this fault. You can lose nearly all the water and then do some real "dry" camping.

We have been out several times with ours with no problems so far. Our switches were also reversed but the dealer caught that. I too want to add a drawer to the top drawer in the kitchen...does seem like wasted space. I am very interested to check out the water tank situation....we too often dry camp and always leave home with a full tank or so we think. Seems I have noticed that we were low on water when we arrived in camp. I think, we now know the problem after reading Lynnmor's reply to you. Lynnmor, Thank you for letting us know that....we will stay on top of it...hopefully someone will figure out a fix.....when you expect to have a full tank upon arrival it can really spoil a great trip. Keep us posted if anyone finds a solution.

Our second trip coming up next week! An update on the issues we were having: We ordered a drawer for the kitchen to replace the tip-out "waste of space" thing. It is around $50, but we believe will be worth it. A replacement shower door is on its way. And as for the water access - KZ is going to cover the cost for the dealer to move the pipe and hook in to the drain hose, making us able to access all the water. It hasn't been done yet (our fault, not theirs), but we are hopeful that this will do the trick. The trip planned for next week involves going to a state park first where there are no hook-ups for a couple nights. When water and power is running low and septic is filling up, we will move down the road to a new lake and campsite with hook-ups for a couple nights. Seems like a good plan.

We just got a 2012 321RKS and I spoke to my dealer about the water problem (fresh water being sucked out) and he stated that there was a problem with several designs but the install of the "u trap" stopped it when properly installed. There are 2 folks here that are NEVER satisfied and are constantly rebuilding their new rigs or making changes. Why did they ever buy them is a mistery to me

If you want to be helpful, you can quit making snide remarks about fellow members. Now if you have information about WHY, WHERE, and HOW to install this "u-trap" please post the information. Photos would help.

Hey Guys...love the website. Great information. I'm in the market for a 261RKS. Had a 220KS and loved it. My question - what do you all tow the 261RKS with? Just curious...know all the numbers and have done my due diligence. I'm a camper that prefers more power. Once owned a Coleman pop-up and pulled it with a 1500HD - I liked the set-up - truck didn't even notice it. I would like to tow the camper with a Toyota Tundra 5.7 w/tow package. I know I CAN - but I'm looking for real world 1/2 ton answers. I live out west - more mountains but I really hate to upgrade to a 3/4 ton because the truck is going to be our daily ride. So guys - how's the ride with a 1/2 ton?

I tow mine with a Dodge 1500 5.7 Hemi with only 3.55 gears and it tows very well. I get between 8 and 11 MPG depending on the wind. Yeah I know it is back there but I have never had any problem climbing 8 to 10 percent grades. If you have 3.73 or taller gears you should be fine in my opinion.

I have a 2009 Spree 261 RKS towing with a 2008 Toyota Tundra 5.7 with tow package. Have been towing it for 3 years and no problems. This includes numerous trips through the Rockies in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah Wyoming, South Dakota, and more states I don't remember. Also took a trip in 2010 to Alaska & Canada for two months. Truck and TT all performed great. Any other questions, let me know.
