I own a 2013 Spree Escape with the bunks, a 196S which I bought used. After my first trip I noted that some screws are coming loose, specifically: 1. The bottom of the Stone guard in front>>>feels like sheet metal to sheet metal 2. On the side trim at the bottom>>>Stripped to the point I can snug it with my fingers 3. The bottom of the shower>>>can snug but it comes loose again
I know the trick of using silicone and sort of gluing them in place but I would prefer using the best method available. If into wood, you build up the stripped wooden frame with plastic wood or glue and wood and reset the screw. If working with aluminum tubing you need to go larger screw, etc.
I sent an email to the factory a week ago and am disappointed that I have not received a reply. DFoes anyone know what the frame is made of in these areas mentioned above so I can repair properly?
Thanks in advance! Dave

Can't believe that 50 folks have viewed this request and not one person had an answer. This is not my first camper and I have belonged to different forums and each of them would have had several responses, usually with similar problems and how they fixed them. I even called the factory, got an answering device and am still waiting for an answer. Did I make an expensive mistake in buying this?

It is hard to say what you have. I had numerous screws stripped in my trailer and the fixes were different depending on what materials were affected. My stone guard failed because there were too few screws holding it on. If we had photos of your problem areas, we might have some suggestions. Photos

I got a call from the factory and they advised that the areas in question were all 2x2 wood framing. I did not show pictures as they would have been the picture of the outside of the camper. I appreciate the response though Weekender RVer. I used to be on the Trailmanor forum and my question would have brought a dozen responses. I guess I was spoiled by them. They also had about every manual and construction picture you could imagine as well and in a format that could be downloaded. Of course that web is not owned by the manufacturer and I had to pay a whopping $12 a year to have that information readily available. Not complaining, this is a great web, just different and I need to get used to it.

Dave, I took delivery of my 2013 Spree Escape in April 2013 and have now passed 100 nites and no problems. I clear siliconed the bottom shower plate at the base and both sides of the 1/4 round in the 90 degree vertical corner before the first shower so I would have a clean surface and no leaks. I haven't had any problems except my beer fridge keeps running out of beer.
Good luck.

Thanks for the responses. I visited the factory last Tuesday and had a terrific guide. I got to see sprees in many different stages which allowed me a lot of insight on the framing, etc. From that trip I concluded I need to caulk the shower and loosen the screws enough to but some caulk inside the heads, there is nothing to keep water from wicking into that area. I am very happy with my 196, especially now that I know how to address things. One thing I had not mentioned earlier was the poor reception on the tv. Someone mentioned on another forum section they had loose connections, WOW were they ever loose. I tightened the fittings and got a lot better reception and bunches of more channels.
I have been spending every weekend out camping.
