Looking to add a hitch on my new Sportsman 242BH TT. Desired use: to support a dirt bike (300# for bike and hauler). Any recommendations / words of warning? I know the bumper is not an option!

300 pounds on the back will create a very light hitch which will create some unwanted trailer control issues. It will also add more weight to the axles taking away any "load" in the factory ratings for holding tanks and food/possessions. IMO I would add that much to the back. What is your tow vehicle? If its a truck get a front hitch and rack made or load it in the bed.

Thanks Tony! I have a 1/2 ton Silverado. I have a cap on and don't want to mess with it. I agree about the towing characteristics being thrown off. I was wondering about adding weight up front to compensate. Agreed about reducing capacity too. the front hitch has appeal, but I think it would restrict my vision too much. Perhaps this is why they make toy haulers?! Thanks again for the thoughts!!
