Hello all. Have a question that I hope someone can answer. I'm looking at buying a 2009 Durango 355BH... It's a beautiful trailer... I have a 2011 F250 diesel with a short bed. Is this trailer made to be towed with a shortbed or do I need a slider hitch?? Should I contact KZ? appreciate any input. Happy camping to all

I have only pulled with a longbed and cannot be of any help but I am sure there are a lot of Durango owners out there to help answer your question. You stated that you were thinking of purchasing a Durango and I just wanted to say---go for it!!! I am on my second KZ fifth wheel and have been very pleased with both. The only reason I traded in our first KZ Montego Bay was to upgrade to a Stoneridge with a floor plan that worked out better for us. By us I mean my wife who now has now has a huge kitchen which the Montego Bay did not. As long as the Durango was not abused and the roof is good, you can hardly go wrong. Remember that the tires are only good for about 5 years even if they have great tread and still look good, check the date on the trailer tires before you make a deal. Four new tires for our first 5er cost me a little over $900.00. I am sure someone will be answering your shorted question. Good luck with your future purchase.

Thanks for the reply... I have only seen pictures... The roof did look very dirty so i will be looking at it very closely. Also the guy selling it told me the tires are original but have only 200 miles on them...but have always been covered and cleaned etc. He's only asking 23,900 for it. I've been told thats a deal of the century.. I will be going over it with a fine tooth oomb..

I've been told thats a deal of the century.. I will be going over it with a fine tooth oomb.. The less the tires are used the faster they rot from the inside. The consent flexing of the tire when the trailer is being towed releases the oils in the rubber and helps extend the tire life. I do not really understand it completely but I only put about a thousand miles a year on ours and keep the tires covered and they needed replacing within 5 years. If you blow out a tire it does a lot of damage to the RV. 23,900 does sound like a great deal even if you need to replace the tires. I would strongly suggest that you take someone that has experience with RVs along to check out the Durango. It is hard to ask the right questions if you don't know what to ask and check. Good luck

I have a similar Durango and pull ours with a 2004 GMC with short bed. I went with the slider (specifically the pull rite), peace of mind being important to me. While you could probably get by without a slider, one crunched cab/window and you would have wished you had done that. And it works great, when at a full 90 degree turn the cab is about a foot from the camper. Since the camper "slides" back about 18 inches, you can imagine what would have happened with the standard hitch.
About the tires. If it has the original "Chinese" tires, mileage isn't such a good indicator of the tires condition. There are many internet forums that discuss these tires in great detail. I swapped mine out after about 2,000 miles just for peace of mind.
And your "deal of the century" ... let me know if you change your mind ... just let me know where and how to contact the guy! Just kidding, that sounds like a really good deal. You won't be sorry with a KZ in my opinion.
