Hi there!
I seriously consider to install an axle-flip kit (40$ from Dexter) on my 2011 Sportsmen Classic 16BH because I'm very concerned about the actual ground clearance of this unit (of this entire product line BTW). I bought it a few weeks ago and I never really travel with it except for the way back home from the guy I buy it from (let's say 40 KMs). But just on the way back home, I rub the rear bumper protection brackets (the big triangular brackets) a few times on the pavement while climbing step hills a few blocks from my home! However I was driving very slowly and the Sportsmen were perfectly levelled behind the towing vehicle.
Moreover my father-in-law own himself a brand new 2013 Sportsmen Classic 19FB and he only use it like 3 time since he bought it last autumn just before winter... so last week he can't connect to the sewer on the campground because the campsite sewer inlet are higher than the actual outlet on the Sportsmen (which is very low)!! Luckily, a unoccupied campsite a little further has a lower sewer connection so he can change site after campground manager approval.
I have two questions for people who did the flip already :
1. How is the handling after the flip, any concern? Any other unwanted side effects to complain?
2. How much inches does it increase height? Because I don't want the entry steps to be too high because I have young children...
Installation seem to be a piece of cake... jack the trailer on holder, remove wheel, un-bolt axle, flip axle and reinstall with new brackets/u-bolts. The only side effect is I'll need to do again the entire adjustment procedure of my Equal-i-zer hitch from scratch.
Thank you very much!!
