I'm the new, second owner, of a very slightly used Sportsmen Classic 16BH trailer. This is our first travel trailer, but we previously own a pop-up camper (Rockwood). We decided to do like many pop-ups owners do after a short time and change it for a TT after been tired of assembling and disassembling it! Moreover we were previously limited by the towing capacity of our small SUV (2000-pounds, Jeep Compass 2.4L) but about a month ago we bought a brand new 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan SE. Because the 16BH weight only 2270 pounds, it leave us plenty of margin for passengers (2 young kids + 2 adults) and luggages. I have all available options on the unit like the front window w/ cover, the A/C (wall mount), 4 points stabs jack, AM-FM-CD radio, TV antenna, etc. and former owner purchase some extra accessories installed from the dealer like a Vortex fan for the bathroom, two MaxxAir2 vent covers, a twin LP gas (2x20 lb) w/ automatic transfer valve kit and more!
The former owner only use the unit 5 times in 3 years and this spring his wife decided she didn't want to do camping anymore (you know what I mean...) so he was pretty much forced to sell it, against his heart! He let me every accessories he ever bought with the unit, including a genuine Equal-i-zer weight distribution hitch, LP quick connect/adaptor for exterior BBQ, all chemicals and much more, for free!
The unit is showroom condition and the only thing I can see is the sealant is a little bit yellowish/greenish color IMO (but not cracked yet). There's no leak of any kind, but I'll make a deep inspection and sealant touch-ups later this spring. The former owner make sealant touch-ups every year and take very good care of the unit! I love this unit so much and it's perfect for our small family because of the bunk beds! The only cons we found on it yet, it's a VERY LOW profile unit... just to travel from the former owner to my home I rub the rear bumper protection brackets (there's it protection brackets at least) a few times on the pavement and also this a very basic unit with no tanks level and battery meters (WTF?!?) and no EZ-LUBE axle. I also dislike the twin LP gas upgrade the former owner put on it because it add some unnecessary tongue weight and we almost never use LP gas except for water heater!! We never use the gas cooktop, fridge on gas or heater. I'll probably look to downgrade the system back to a single LP tank, sold the 2-tank upgrade kit and keep the extra tank for my home barbecue grill!
I'll probably have a few questions for you guys since it's my first TT ever and it's pretty much different from my pop-ups. First of all, my former pups doesn't have bathroom, toilet, gray/black tank, water heater, etc!
