For those of you who, like me, ordered the spare tire option on your Durango (mine is a 2857) be aware that the lug nuts on the factory wheels will NOT work on the spare that KZ provided. You need to go purchase a set of 6 standard lug nuts that fit the lugs. I believe they are a 1/2 by 20. Pull off your spare tire cover and check what's holding your wheel on there. Mine had two correct lugs holding it on but that was it, unless they're in a special hiding place that I don't know about. You need a total of 6 for an emergency tire replacement. I found that out the hard way. The original tire separated at the sidewall/tire face with less than 5000 miles. They say if one goes then the other on the same side has received enough weight additional load as a single axle support and therefore is likely to be the next to go unexpectedly. So I had the whole lot replaced with E range tires (factory stock is a D rated tire)and I'll put the surviving take offs on my 18' utility trailer. Also have added a tire management system. I learned you don't necessarily see a damaged tire in your rear view until its shredded Last but not least if you want to be able to change a tire easily on the road, buy yourself a Trailer Aid Plus Tandem Tire Changing Ramp by Trailer Aid. I got mine from Amazon for about 38 bucks and it is easy to use and a life saver for quick changing tires in an emergency without having to mess with jacks.
Happy trails. Mike.

Thank you very much for that information. I'm on my second KZ and never knew about the lug nuts. Now that I know I'll be taking care of that this weekend. A flat tire is enough to ruin your day--not having lug nuts for the spare would not make for a happy camper.

Let us know if you find the same thing? You're exactly right about the frustration of having a flat then realizing your only choice is to wait on help from AAA or whomever 'cause you can't mount the spare because there aren't enough lug nuts!! I have platinum road coverage but if you're like me there's times you'd just as soon handle it yourself and get back on the road. I hope KZ reads these posts in order to increase quality control but not convinced that they do because i've never received a response to any of my technical questions. We can help ourselves by sharing though.

FWIW, My 2013 Durango 325's spare wheel/tire use the same lug nuts. You're right, if that was different it sure would be an unwelcome issue.
