Good Morning, new to the forum and actually joined because a friend without a computer needs help with his Sportsman. I don't have a lot of detail so bear with me. He has a 2001 Sportsman 5er 27'? don't have the model number at this time. The question is: is the 5er wired for satellite or just cable TV? He only has one coax input on the outside of the unit and has the usual coax/12v jack in the bedroom with the booster switch for the antenna signal. I'm thinking that the factory setup is just for cable. Any suggestions I can pass on to him would be appreciated. Thanks!

If there is only 1 coax hook-up on the side of the trailer then it is for cable input and will go directly to the booster. On that age of coach if it had a dedicated satellite hook-up it would be on the roof, most often in the bathroom/bedroom area.

Thanks for the reply! That is likely the case, just one input. A couple of questions then. Option 1. = drill hole, install outside jack and run cable to area I want sat. Option 2. = question! Does the outside jack connect to the inside booster then tv, then antenna? Is there a way to add a coax input at the "booster" connecting parallel to the current one that goes directly to the outside and is not affected by the booster? Thanks!!

Yes, the coax from the cable hook-up and the antenna both run directly to the booster and then from the booster to the main tv. Your best bet is probably going to be to just add a hook-up close to where you want the receiver and be done. Trying to run an additional coax to the booster area would be almost impossible.

If you do not use the cable part of the booster there is an easy fix, Unscrew the booster from the unit, and then proceed to un-hook the cable where the outside cable attaches to the booster, extend it and attach it to your receiver, the booster will still work with the antenna also, Did it to my 242BHS worked great, Ps the cables are marked on the back of the Booster Hope this helps
