Good day all! First post here for me. Purchased a new 2023 KZ Escape in April and have a few trips under the families belt already. For background, I’m a very handy guy; I’ve built a house from ground up and do all my own vehicle maintenance and modifications. I’ve of course done a few fun things to the camper also.
Anyways, my electrical has recently started doing weird things. Battery meter in the trailer fluctuates between 1/3 and 2/3, never full. Recently was camping and on 30 amp shore power the whole time. Had no problems while there with low draw things (lights) but when leaving the awning and slide were both very slow to come in. Battery was reading E after that. Got home and plugged into 110v for two days. Battery reads 2/3 in trailer now and reads 11.76 volts on the battery posts. Seems like it should be higher. I have disconnected it and have battery maintainer on it now.
When testing voltage, I’m getting 11.76 as stated on the posts. However, when going from positive post to anything that would be ground-worthy on the trailer, including the ground itself, I am getting 0.76v. Seems not correct. On truck, positive post to any ground gives me same as connecting straight to posts.
Help please! I’m at a loss. Is this normal on trailer and I’m just over thinking it? Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum. If the trailer is under warranty, take it back to the dealer. If not, then find every ground starting at the battery, disassemble, clean, and reassemble. There could be several, including ones close to the converter, water heater, or fridge. Could be others. Always trust your readings to a multi-meter vs. the little display box. Once a battery drops below 12v, it starts eating itself inside shorting its life. Have the battery tested. It may have a weak cell.

wrkrbee Is correct in searching for a good ground and best trust a multimeter over the scale. Your first step needs to be is remove it and have it tested. KZ only warranties their batteries for 1 year. Mine went bad at 1 year 3 months, go figure that!!!! I purchased a good quality battery and so far 2 plus years still going strong. Good luck!!

I'm not even sure that battery warranty would be through KZ. I think they ship without a battery and the new dealer chooses one and installs it... most cases choosing the least expensive option on earth lol
