Hey all,
Just wondering what you all thought about the factory installed backup camera. I haven’t selected it at this point because they wanted 1400 dollars which seems a bit steep. Anyone have any thoughts on whether it is worth it?

Defiantly worth the money IMO. I had mine installed after I bought the camper don't think it was that much but is well worth it far as I'm concerned.

I guess I was more wondering whether it was worth it to have it factory installed. I would think I could get one a lot cheaper on my own

If you're do it yourself guy, they are not hard to install. Me I'm a tightwad if it is something I can do and save a couple bucks I do it. Some people would just rather have it ready to roll when they get it. Kinda comes down to whatever you're comfortable with either way it is worth it IMO.

I have experience building homes from the ground up but RVs are a whole different animal. I am not confident in anything lol but I have no doubt I’ll be forced to learn

I did my own install as many others have done... I bent up an aluminum bracket that mounts under the light... easy money. This is easily angled further downward for a more direct vision when backing in... I tilt it up a bit for going down the road... I hop on the bumper and move it as needed.

Are you ordering a new RV and asking if you should have it added as an option or are you asking about having the dealership install the system to your RV that is prepped for a camera system? If ordering as an option, probably save some money if you just got the prep for it and ordered/installed the cameras yourself. My trailer came with the camera prep and when I purchased it I ordered the factory camera system from Amazon (way cheaper) and installed it myself. Super easy install! Remove a couple screws, remove the plate from the RV prep area, connect the camera to the available wire and screw in the camera to the existing mounting holes.
