How do you folks winterize your fridge? I have a 387flf with I think a GE fridge. Last two years I just ran antifreeze through everything but the taste always takes forever to get rid of the next spring. I have been reading about doing it with compressed air. Looking for thoughts/ ideas. Thanks

I don’t have a residential fridge but for taste I always run a bleach mix through the system first. I will rinse it twice after that.

laknox,
I'm aware of the procedure to winterize with air but does that work effectively in the fridge/freezer? How do you get it into the ice maker? Just pressurize the system and let it cycle a couple times?

Just pressurize the system and let it cycle a couple times? That I don't know. I wonder what would happen if you opened the low point drains and let the ice maker cycle? Would it allow air to vent through the ice maker valve back down? What about putting a mild vacuum on the LP drain to =suck= it out? Lyle

The ice maker on our res fridge has a test button which will cycle the ice maker. It takes several cycles but will get the antifreeze through the icemaker.

Just got through winterizing my camper. I drained the system then blew air thru it. I had spliced the line that goes to the ice maker and put a Tee in with a drain line. I also let the maker cycle a couple times. I could not find a test button as Milo indicated so, did a google search as well and it showed where it was but still nothing I could find. I feel sure the system is clear and I will not add the pink stuff. I will report back how it all turns out.

With anti-freeze? That's a cold fridge.

Blowing the air thru the system and letting the ice maker cycle did the trick. I pulled the camper out for a trip last weekend and no issues.
