How many miles on average before you repack your wheel bearings or maybe this is something you do on a time bases say every couple years. I was told by a service guy that you should have them checked and repacked every 10,000 miles but that doesn't seem very much use to me.

You will get all kinds of answers, the correct answer is it all depends on the factors involved.
Trailer axles use the cheapest Chinese wheel bearings they can find, I have had some begin to fail immediately because of the extremely poor workmanship. You can improve the situation immensely by tossing out the junk and install Timken brand bearings. Also if you have 3500 pound axles, know that the spindle design leaves no significant shoulder support for the inside bearing and they may not hold adjustment or alignment for very long. Never mix grease types and only use grease specifically made for wheel bearings, not the products that mention bearings and numerous other applications. As you can see, there is no good answer when you are dealing with low quality components. Good Luck.

I do it every other year. I usually place less than 1000 miles a year though.

My '04 Komfort's bearings were tight and I greased the EZ Lubes every year. When I finally had them replaced after about 10-11 years, they were Timkens and the shop said that they had little wear and were easily reusable. I said just replace 'em and new seals. Adjusted the brakes, too. I had the rig on the market and wanted the new bearings as a selling point. Mileage at that point was probably 10k, total. Lyle

I do mine every year. Mainly because of surprises like this. These electric brakes have more in common with a Model T than we would like to admit.

As I said, like a model T . We do run a lot of miles, over 25K so far. And more surprises like this:

As I said, like a model T Please don't compare this junk to a model T, at least the auto industry continued to make improvements over the years, unlike the RV industry.

I have right at 7500 miles on mine. I have talked to our local RV service center they are booked up and I have a trip starting next Tuesday it will be two weeks be about 1500 mile roundtripper. I'm setup for when I get back to have the bearing packed and or replaced if necessary and inspect the brakes. I will be keeping a closer watch on them during this trip.
Thanks for all the input.

Any local garage can do this simple job, you don't need an RV dealer or the high cost.

Exactly why I did this. Yes it's on the levelers with stands, I forget the lifting weight of each ram, way more combined that the weight of my 5W. The don't is CYA for the manufacture should you get hurt. Kind of like spilling hot coffee and suing.
