We have our FW up at my sister-in-law's place in Chino Valley, N of Prescott. Wife is working remotely from up there and enjoying much cooler weather than here in the Phoenix area. She came home for a couple days' of grandbaby time and, on the way back up yesterday, there were an insane number of RVs off the road on I-17, AZ 69 and 89, in =both= directions. Almost all were flats, though there were, I think, 2-3 truck issues, as well. It wasn't insanely hot, < 100, and traffic was heavy enough that average speeds were 70-ish. I saw at least 3 full-on rim riding blow-outs and another 2-3 non-shredded flats. One rig was pulled over, had all the jacks out and the truck was unhooked, though all 4 tires on both the FW and the truck looked OK. Even looked like it was leveled. They were far enough off the freeway that people were sitting in the shade in their lawn chairs. That one was a mystifier, for sure! Now, I've only been doing this for 19 years (2004), and this is the most RVs, and all towables, that I've ever seen pulled over in one day. It's about 140 miles from my door to wife's sister's place, about 2 hours, depending on traffic. All-in-all, I figure we saw 12-15 RVs pulled over in that distance. If the were all in one direction, I'd say that some construction truck was spilling nails/screws, but there were no =cars= or =trucks= with flats, that we noticed, only RVs. Crazy!

Wow, that is strange. I can always gauge how hot it really is by the number of tire carcasses I see along the road. If it's in the 100's and the speed limit is 80 watch out for tire debris. But that doesn't fit your situation. Could have also been the "never service their rig" crowd out for an end of season outing & got more adventure than they planned on.

I've driven all over AZ in the summer, when it's a =lot= hotter, and I've never seen that many RVs pulled over, especially in such a short distance. I wasn't towing, just heading back up to my sister-in-law's place in the van, and I kept glancing down to see if my TPMS was going off and really "feeling" how it was driving/riding, in case I was having a tire go down.
