Hi and Thank you for accepting my membership request.
I just purchased a 2014 Sportsman Show Stopper and although it's in pretty good condition it does require some immediate maintenance.
A small section of the roof at the back left corner has encountered some water penetration as this section is soft. This was likely caused from a few small holes along the edge, probably from a tree branch. For this I used a little Eternabond. However, I need to fill in several other areas where the Dicor (I think it's Dicor) is compromised. Do you know what roof material was used for these units (e.g. epdm, tpo, or other). I want to be sure to use the proper sealant. I did check the online manual and searched this forum but no luck.
Also, the trailer does not have a ladder built in, does this mean the roof is not walkable without something to distribute the load. It did hold my weight fine but curious what the general consensus is.
Thanks.

You can determine what type of roofing you have by removing the trim from a roof vent in the inside of the coach, as there is always some material folded down into the hole cut for the vent. if the bottom side of the material is black you have a "rubber" (EPMD) roof, if not, it's most likely TPO. As far as the ladder goes, no ladder usually means no walk on.

I disagree about no ladder meaning no walk-on. My first two TT were walk-on roofs, but there were no ladders. You need to check with the manufacture/dealer about the roof to be sure.

usually adverb
1. Most of the time; less than always, but more than occasionally. 2. Under normal conditions.
That means it's not written in stone

Just out of curiosity, how do you work on a "no walk on roof" If a vent needs replaced or re-sealed say for example?

Walk on the roof braces only. Theses are located fore and aft of each vent and the a/c. Walk lightly, and feel as you go. You can usually find the braces.

Most RVs from that era, including the Sportsman Show Stopper, typically use EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) or TPO (Thermoplastic Olefin) roofing materials. To determine which one yours has, look for any markings or stickers on the roof or consult the manufacturer. If it's not immediately clear, you can use a small test area to see how the sealant adheres. EPDM is generally compatible with a wide range of sealants, but TPO requires specific TPO-compatible sealants. No ladder means no liability against the manufacturer. Some people are sue happy. They fall off the installed ladder and blame the company because they put it there.
