2011 KZ Sportsman. I need to replace the hot water tank (suburban) for the third time, as they keep rusting out. Thinking about upgrading from 6 to 10 gallon, just because. Has anyone done this, and what sort of problems did you run into? There appears to be more than enough room in the bay for that to be done.

Have you inspected or replaced the anode rod yearly?

^^^^ this! Not sure why you would want or need to upgrade to a 10 gallon tank. More money and rust issues will still be there. Atwood water heaters don’t need an anode rod as they are aluminum. Suburban heaters do as they’re steel tanks.

I have heard just enough bad news about tankless water heaters to cause me concern, so I would talk to some of the folks who have the tankless before you make that change.

Mine is tankless "Propane" of course it is still new and works just fine, although I do have concerns about it. On a normal day it probably has to kick on anywhere from 10 to 20 times. Go to rinse a cup are wash your hands, shaving things like that I just don't know how long that igniter will last. One good thing is you can set the temperature to what you want. Get ready to shower set it to 95 or 100 for a cool shower or crank it up to 112, 115 for a hot shower and never have to turn the cold water faucet on.

Have you inspected or replaced the anode rod yearly? If there is an anode rod. Someone may have removed it and just installed a plug.

Drain, flush and replace anode rod yearly. Anode rods are cheap, tanks are not.
