Since I haven't yet towed with the '22 3500 Denali, does the L5P have a "sweet spot" like the older Duramaxes do? My '02, when towing, seems to have a sweet spot right about 62 mph, max. I lose 1-1.5 mpg towing at 65. First tow will be in 2 weeks, so I'll see how it goes. I'll stick with 65 and see. Endurance tires are 81 mph rated, so no issues there.

It would be interesting to know. You’re 62mph seems to be the same as my 2013 LML Duramax. It’s right at that 1600 rpm’s which is at the torque peak on this LML.

I went diesel two years ago and wished I had done it years ago. I went from a gas 5.3 GM with 18 mpg at best to this LML diesel at 26 mpg at best. Towing is a breeze and I double tow with boat behind the fifth wheel.

Axle ratio is a big consideration when comparing fuel mileage.

Wondering what the rationale is for not using the tow mode? Honestly curious, maybe I missed something. I will trade a little fuel for reduced trans temps.
This is from the F350 notes: Tow/haul mode extends the shift points and adds engine braking when decelerating. This mode is not necessary for light towing or towing on level ground. This mode also locks up the torque converter earlier to reduce transmission heat and will reduce fuel economy as a result.

Well, I ended up getting about 10.8 mpg on our camping trip. Biggest issue was that I had to schlep up almost 500 extra lbs to the camp site as where I'd planned to stop for water didn't offer potable water, only non-potable for dumping. Can't complain about a free dump, but I'd've paid a per-gallon rate for potable. I was running 65, instead of 62. I =really= wish I could find a gear readout so I could see what gear I was in without having to go to manual mode. Looking at getting some sort of OBD monitor, maybe a Banks iDash, as I'm pretty sure they have that info. At 10.8 and a touch faster than I ran with the '02, I'm not too disappointed, especially when I mash the pedal down to actually =pass= someone. Having the 81 mph rated Endurance tires helps, too, as I don't worry about running up into the 70's if I need to. For those that don't know, my house is right at 1,200' elevation and we camped at almost 7,100', with a lot of ups and downs in-between. Would love to have an elevation logger to see what the total net was for the trip.
