Awning smart arm has stopped working again for the 3rd time! I know y’all will as so it’s on 2018 Durango sport rkt . Any way iv taken it in and had the outside control replaced about 6months ago now it quit working again I wouldn’t care if the inside controls still work but the don’t . When I took it in I wanted them to bypass the outside controls but they wouldn’t do that under warranty but replaced the outside controls and the plug it plugged into as I’m sure y’all all know it was corroded and pins broken . I can take it in and they will replace it again but if they bypass it I’ll have to pay them to do it . I want to bypass it and I’m sure it can be done I’m just having a hard time figuring out how I know the power goes through the switch before the inside switch. Solera wants to sell me new arms without the switch but that ain’t cheap and plus I hate to pay them for selling a product they know is junk . Has anyone out there done this?

Update. After a lot of wire tracing and voltage checking I am happy to say I no longer have outside control on the solera not so smart arm!! It is possible to bypass the outside control and have it working from the inside rocker switch and also have the awning light work from the inside without spending mega bucks on new arms like lippert wants you to do . Anyone having the same problem I can help you figure it out without having to go through a lot of hassle that I did . I won’t boar y’all with the details but message me if you need help figuring it out I couldn’t find anything about how to do it on the internet so I had to do it the old fashioned way and just figure it out .

Great job on figuring that out. Nothing wrong with good old sweat and ingenuity.
While I don't have a Solera awning, IMO, you should write up the entire process and post it here, as well as other RV fora. That way the Net Bots can search it out and the problem, and your solution, can get spread further, faster. Could throw a little mud in the eye of Solera to actually fix the issue. I know that any new rig I look at is going to get higher marks for LESS tech toys.

What really makes me mad about this is it’s an easy fix once they saw it was a problem . The problem is the plug goes into the top of the controller all they would have to do is lengthen the wiring harness and make the plug go into the bottom where it could be easily made more water proof . It’s a shame because it is a nice feature that could work just fine but they don’t want to fix it they are selling the 400$ controllers and selling the new arms every day . The last time I had it fixed lippert would now longer warranty it luckily I had extended warranty that would pay to replace it but like I said in the original post they wouldn’t pay to bypass it as lipperts fix it a new arm with a new wiring harness which is even more expensive than the control. And on top of that they said if I replaced the arm the awning light would no longer work with the inside switch so no control no light . I got the light to work off the inside switch but it only on it’s brightest setting but in ok with that .

Any bets as to whether they ever even asked more than one active camper whether this was a good idea, or not? Yeah, I didn't think so.
