Our kids recently bought a used Nash travel trailer and are really starting to get into RVing. I had the son-in-law convert to 6v batteries and they went winter camping for the first time. (Getting the furnace running was an adventure in itself.) All worked well, but I was very concerned about their battery life as I know that furnace fans can eat up your battery(ies) pretty easily. Fortunately, the new batteries and my warnings worked very well, enough so that they bumped the 'stat up a couple degrees for their 2nd and 3rd nights. :-) They also have a nice 100w solar charger direct-wired to the batteries.
OK, now for my question. I'd like to give them a recommendation for a good battery monitor. I have a basic one that plugs into the old-school "lighter", but my KZ doesn't even have one, so it's useless. Their Nash doesn't have one, either, so it's a direct-wired option. Should I just recommend a basic voltage / percentage monitor or, for just a few $$ more, one that measures that, as well as power usage, amp hours, watts, etc.? With a direct wire, will the monitor lose much accuracy if it's wired to the power panel vs. battery-direct?
Thanks for any info.

Lyle In my 2020 201BH, i also had no 12 v outlets -- I added some in my unit -- Iwhen I started out -- I used those 12v plug in monitors and found them lacking -- I didn't want to spend an arm and leg for the Victron Shunts - I found this Shunt on Amazon -- and have been extreemly happy with it -- the ONLY problem is at nighr -- it is kinda bright -- and where I mounted it acts light a bright nigrlight -- I just put a cover over it Good Luck Alex www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FGFFHC6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Alex
Thanks for posting this, that looks just like what I am needing. Can you share the installation process and where you mounted the meter and shunt?
Thanks Rod

Rod -- Not a problem -- this Ali battery Monitor does basicly the same as the Victron just no Blutooth and a LOT less expensive --www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07FGFFHC6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 the install process is pretty straight forward -- mount the shunt between the Battery neg and the Chassis Ground -- I mounted the meter on my upper cabinet wall - and I just ran the cable (u need to order the extension you need with the monitor order (sep Purchase ) from the shunt (under the camper to the side of the ca binets -
