Apologize if this has been covered previously, but can't find an answer.
We live near Memphis, TN, lowest normal lows in winter about 20F. Last year, our first with a new 260RK, we winterized with two gallons of anti-freeze without problems. I was told this was overkill for our weather and that (gently, with compressed air) blowing out the lines with faucets, water heater and drain valves open would be sufficient.
Any advice or experience?
Thanks, Jon

If you are sure that you are getting all of the water out, then blowing it is OK. If you are too gentle some will remain in low spots. Water freezes at 32F no matter where you are.

Austin, TX here. Made the mistake of doing nothing one winter and had the water heater in our RV, not a KZ, explode. It cracked like an egg. $400 to replace. Doing anything, even just draining is better than replacing. If the freeze is going to be sustained, drain and blow out. Anti freeze in the south is overkill even if it stays below freezing for a few days.

We live in NH and always do both. Better safe than sorry! Could be an expensive lesson.

Anyone have problems with things freezing and cracking? Told was winterized and found out not. Have broken water pump, sink faucet, outdoor shower and valve behind toilet. Wondering if anyone would know how much damage this could cause. Was bought as new trailer so think very little water was left in it. At dealership now and having some problems with them. New to owning a RV. Need help please.

Hi! Fixing the things you can see is one thing. I'd be concerned with the things you can't see. You could have split lines running all through your unit.
I've never heard of that much damage in one trailer because of water being in the lines. That seems pretty excessive to me. If the trailer was bought new and you were told it was winterized, I'd say the dealer is completely responsible for the damage.
What kind of problem are you having with the dealer?
