Good morning, everyone I have a question for the group. I am interested in a 2023 KX D326RLT which has a dry hitch weight of 1830 Lbs. My truck has a capacity of 1990 Lbs. My truck is a 2015 Ram 2500 Mega cab with 6.7 cummings and all stock. I am thinking of upgrading to HD Coil Springs and HD Shocks and also Add airbags if needed.
Does this seem doable, and if anyone has a similar experience please share. I know the D290RLT has a lighter hitch weight, but we like the D326RLT better.
PS I currently have a 2015 Jayco Eagle 339FLQS with a dry hitch weight of 2485 Lbs. I know its overweight but has handled great.
So by going 645Lbs lighter (dry hitch weight) and the added suspension ungraded, I should be good?
Thanks In advance Mickey

Just a quick comment (But you probably already know this) Adding springs and bags may serve well to level the truck... but will not change the manufacturers Vehicle Ratings. It is what it is... Nonetheless, it is commendable to have both trailer and TV *level* when loaded and on the road. Good Luck with your new FUN!!

I would say you are probably good, but you will be darn close, if not over with the Durango. This is also assuming you have hauled the Jayco more than around the block, so both you and the truck have some real world experience. Just keep an eye on your truck's tires as they may be over their limit and failure there can have big consequences. The real and online weight police will lecture you (and rightfully so) about all the hazards and liability associated with going over the various limits, which are real, but if you spend any time on the road, you will see more combinations either overloaded or right at the limit than you thought possible.

I would look into getting a spring pack for a 3500. My buddy has an 05 Dodge Cummins 3500 SRW he hauls a 34’ Winnebago 5th wheel with similar tongue weight. Only difference is extra leafs ride on the upper brackets when loaded. They don’t touch unloaded. Not sure if your 15 would be similar.
