I decided to put this in the General RV Questions instead of the Connect forum because it may apply to any KZ with a fiberglass front.
I have a 2019 C261RB. The drivers side running light at the top of the fiberglass front is out.
The 12 volts is there on the yellow wire. There is NO continuity on the black ground wire.
I suspect the wire is NOT broken, but has come disconnected from the rest of the wires.
Does anyone know where the running light wires are routed and where this ground wire would be connected into the rest of the trailer ground? Also the best way to gain access to it?
Thanks...
Jeff

Have you tried looking the right clearance light or the left side marker light? They may have been connected together. A long shot would be to try and fish a wire across from the right side.

I've thought of that. But if it's connected to the other top running light or lower marker light, that would probably mean the wire is broken or loose. If that's the case, I probably won't be able to pull another through unless it's broken and the insulation is still intact, which I believe is doubtful. But if I pull those two lights, who know, I might find the loose wire. I sent an email to KZ asking how it was wired, but after two weeks, it's been crickets. I will have to try it in the spring, the trailer is winterized and covered right now. Fortunately I have until September before I need the Virginia annual safety inspection done and they will require the light be fixed. I'm thinking running something into the bed side closet, down the inside, into the pass through storage and find the marker ground in that wall might be the best bet. I can use hot glue to stick the wire to the corners in the closet and seal a hole into the pass through. Thanks for the suggestion. Jeff

I doubt that KZ has any idea how it was wired. It is possible that one of the wires on the light it was attached to just came loose. The use those cheap crimp connectors. You would have to pull the lights and see. I nothing else, you could fish a stiff wire to one of the other upper lights and tie to that ground. Only a couple of feet between the lights. Much less work than trying to get the wire down inside the trailer and then look for another ground that's probably buried between the inner wall and the trailer skin.

When I took a factory tour I saw unbelievable shoddy workmanship with the wiring. Wires pulled thru razor sharp holes that surely will be cut and a short will happen. Keep this in mind when you pull on the wires because they may be dragging over a sharp edge.

Is the light itself burned out? Running lights have a common ground across the front and rear caps. Looks like an access panel in each closet would give access and remain hidden. Good luck!

I replaced the LED light and gasket thinking the LED was bad, but it wasn't. There are no access panels in the closets, but I am definitely thinking I need to add some to get this fixed. I think the problem is going to be like lynnmor said, it may not be possible to pull a new wire through where the originals were run. I was thinking of creating the access hole, connect a wire, hot glue it along the corner edge from the top of the closet and through the base and into the pass-through storage and connect into the ground for the lower running light.

See if it is possible to remove the panel inside the pass thru storage area. You might get lucky and see a way to poke wires up from there.

If not, I was suggesting cutting a couple of access panels into the closets to facilitate wiring and make sure connections are secured. If the ground has fallen off the existing light, just reattach, no new wire needed. Searching for "rv access panel cover" on Amazon or eBay yields plenty of options. You may have solid wood frame members in the front cap that would make fishing a new wire more of a challenge.

It didn't work and the problem turned out to be no continuity on the ground wire. It's disconnected or broken somewhere, just not at the LED. I'll probably de-winterize about mid-March and get back to troubleshooting this.
