The last couple times we've used our D1500 277RLT, once boondocking and once in a campground, I noticed that the toilet started burping when flushing. I could understand this while boondocking from Wed to Sun wtih a family group where we had a few strays come in to use the toilet, but not at the full hookup campground with just the 2 of us for 4 days. When I dumped at the campground I used my clear elbow and it didn't seem like there was a lot coming out. I can't see directly into the tank as the pipe angles from the toilet down into the tank, so can't confirm if it's, in fact, empty. The rig =tows= like it's empty. I backwashed from the elbow as well as using the tank flush and some stuff came out, but not as much as I thought. (I backwashed the grey tank and was amazed at how much came out of that!)
I jumped up on the top and pulled the top of the vent off to check to see if the line had dropped into the tank, but it appears to be OK. I used an inspection camera to check as far down as I could go, about 3.5', and I saw no blockage or break. I'm not sure if there's a jog in the vent line that prevents me from seeing any further down, or not.
Any other suggestions?
Lyle

Just shooting from the hip here, Is the vacuum brake stuck closed causing it to drain slower? Usually mine drains pretty forcefully, enough that I keep my foot on the elbow at the port.

Lyle when mine "burps" it's time to dump at the tanks getting full. Dump and wait for the next burp.

Go back up on the roof and run some water down the vent pipe to make sure it is clear, could be something got stuck to the bottom of the vent pipe not allowing it to vent.

So it's not supposed to do that? Like I posted, it burps time to dump, kind of the full alarm for me as the black tank gauges are useless.

Nope, shouldn't burp, what that's telling you is the vent pipe is covered, so your tank is really full. But if it only does it when full, not a big deal, actually a good thing because as you said, and I agree, the tank gauges are useless.

I'll have to try this when I get it to my house, as I've got no water at my shop. I'm still thinking of getting some sort of scope to put down the vent to be sure that there's not a joint that's come apart in the wall. I =really= don't want to run water down the vent if this is the case. Lyle

I really didn't think we'd used it that much as we'd used the CG's bathrooms a few times when we were walking around the park. Maybe I had more in the tank to begin with than I thought. I always put water back in the tank after dumping. Lyle

Well, if I have learned anything, the RV world & campgrounds can be full of surprises. During our last trip, someone decided to "help" me by dumping my tanks for me & they left the valves open- something I never do. When we were getting ready to leave a few days later I went to dump again, (not a lot in either, but I don't like hauling waste) the black tank dumped normally, but the grey tank valve pulled real easy, and nothing came out, so I figured either the valve or cable broke. Long story short, not a fan of the one piece underbelly & I found the valve and cable were fine, apparently someone "helped" me again, only this time just dumped the grey tank and then they closed the valve. After all that I did find my tanks are fouled up, black tank is 57 gallons, grey tank is 47 gallons, would have preferred larger grey tank.

Since we boondock 2-3 times a year, I'd =much= rather have a larger black tank. Given that we camp in the mountains of AZ, where we've been having a major drought the past decade, or so, I have =zero= problems in dumping my grey water in the forest, if need to, but I won't dump the black. The trees can use the water =and= any food particles are just fertilizer. Jayco is one of the worst in having small black tanks, =ludicrously= small, IMO. I don't even bother looking at them, any more. I'd =love= to see RVTrader and RVT have required fields for fresh, grey and black tanks, and make them searchable. Same goes with other sites, like RVUSA. Lyle
