After DW spent most of the summer of '21 at her sister's place in Chino Valley in the KZ, and camping this year, she's decided that our 277RLT's just not big enough. Actually, it's the peninsula kitchen that's the culprit. She loves the counter space, but not the tightness it creates. So, not only will I be shopping for a truck, I may be shopping for another RV.
One of my biggest pet peeves about the entire RV industry is that about 99% of them have completely anemic black tanks. How in the hell does =anyone= think that a 30 gal black tank will handle a family of 4 for more than about 3 days if you're boondocking? That said, there really needs to be a standard set of specs, and nomenclature, for RVs that are suitable for "off-grid"/ "boondocking"/"dry camping". As we 'dock at least once a year for 4-5 days, and would like to do more, having plenty of fresh water and a large black tank, are a must. Is there =anywhere= where you can do a search on specs, not just manufacturers or models?
Given KZ's current offerings, there really aren't any floorplans that float my boat right now, sadly. And KZ has a lot of company, so far.

This doesn't help your search for central info location, but it used to be toy haulers had the biggest tanks, maybe still might be as their use usually involves boondocking, but that limits you to toy haulers and their floorplan limitations but maybe one might work for you. On a side note I recently discovered the tanks in my trailer were mixed up, 57 GA Black, 46 GA Grey, so yeah...

If you look for floorpans that have two toilets you'll likely end up with two black tanks. For instance, the D291BHT lists black tank capacity at 100 gallons.

You need to watch that because I've seen Durangos that have the sink in the second bathroom plumbed to the second black tank. You might have more space, but its usage is not going to be like a regular black tank.

I’m sure it has two 45’s as one is for the kitchen sink which we have never hit the first sensor on it. It does have second grey tank on The One Control panel. Two of us have gone 10 days on the 50 gallon black tank.

On an old trailer I had trouble with opening and closing the tank valves that had long cables to the valves at the tanks. The black and gray tank terminated at one spot. The dealer suggesting leaving the original valves open and install one valve at termination where the hose connects. This might be a possible solution for expanding your tank capacity. This could easily be accomplished by adding a twist on valve. It wouldn't be permanent and could be used as necessary.

Experience says that they =are= about that size. My old Komfort was 45/45/45. When you see rigs that have a 28 gal black tank, that knocks them right off my list. Lyle

Yeah, not lookig for a rig with 2 bathrooms; most of 'em are just bigger than what I want and have no need for a bunkhouse. Just looking for a rig that can give a couple 4-5 days of boondocking without worrying about having to crap in the woods if the tank gets full. :-)

Or very recent, pristine used. New truck is #1 priority, unless I find a FW that's just too good to pass up. :-) Lyle

I know it's a PITA to find but there are some very nice older units around that will meet your specs for tankage. Here's a start: www.kz-rv.com/brochures/2011/KZ11_Escalade_Flyer.pdf Specs on last page. Still a few out there that have spent most of their life in a shelter with very few miles. I replaced a few things that needed it and a bunch more that didn't to taste...ended up with a great unit and saved enough versus new to put a large dent in whatever truck you would want. I know it's not for everyone but it is an option.
