Sportsman 280 TT. Year 2011.
Just bought this, for property camp. Will have full electric post hook up in a month or so. But for now, older good working generator running heat and lights and outlets etc..I have a 15 amp hookup to it(regular 120 3 pronge plug into generator), finally found a 30 amp plug to go into generators 30 amp plugin. Here is the thing, when I have used the 15 amp adapter plug, everything works all the outlets, lights, heat. When I switched to the 30 amp plugin, the outlets don't work..lights and heat are still working??? Why no outlets on the 30 amp? Switch back over to the 15 amp plugin to generator, everything works again. The fuses seem to be all 15 amp fuses(Im not at camper and really forgot to take inventory of the fuses, but remember most were 15)!? Could this be it, where I need to switch to all 30 amp fuses?! When I switch over to the post for electric, I believe the electrician put standard RV outlet(30 amp?). Anybody have an answer or clue?? Thanks

If you have a twist lock receptacle on the generator my guess is that you wired the plug wrong. A photo of the generator, plug and extension cord might help. We have no idea what you have.

I have a Honda 3000 for a utility trailer with a four lug, 30amp plug that requires either the ability to follow a wiring diagram or a four to three adapter. I chose the latter when wiring the trailer:) Pictures would be helpful but if everything is working temporarily on 15 amp...why not just use that?

My concern is when I eventually get hooked up to post, the outlets will not work from the RV outlet which is 30 amps I believe.

Check the circuit breaker on the generator as it may be tripped. Usually there is one for the 30 amp and another for the 15 amp circuits.

Hit the reply, add attachment upper left and select find on your computer then add. That said have you checked the GFI circuits? Generator breaker as someone else said.

Maybe the 30 AMP cord that you found is bad or wired incorrectly?

Sounds like you need a Neutral-Ground Bonding Plug. You can buy them on Amazon.

Sounds like you need a Neutral-Ground Bonding Plug. You can buy them on Amazon. Sometimes surge protectors will not allow power through if it senses a floating ground. The above device ties the neutral and ground together at the 120 receptacle On the generator. Hopefully a certified electrician will chime in to help explain.

What it’s doing makes no sense to me. Other than the generator, I have used the exact same Camco twist lock to RV plug with my Champion 4K watt. I also have a Champion extension cord with a 30 amp twist lock on one end and three 15 amp plugs on the other. Are you 100% sure you’re getting power out of the 30 amp generator plug?

Until he shows the plug that goes to the generator and points out which outlet he uses, I can't help. Anyone that owns an RV should have a voltmeter and a basic idea how to use it.
