Greetings All...was hoping someone out there may have some additional ideas of what I might be able to do.
We have a 2018 Sportsmen Classic 181BH last year and have been using it pretty regularly during the season. Recently it started taking longer and longer to pump the system up to pressure (we generally use the fresh water tank and we don't use the hot water heater...we bypass that). Now it will not bring the system up to pressure at all and continue to pump. The water pressure out of the taps is also much lower than it was in the past. The water pump is an Artis Products Model PDS1-130-1240E 40 psi pump.
Here are the steps I have already taken:
- I don't think it is a problem with the pressure sensor because when I connect a city water line to the system (which pressurises the circuit) the pump will shut off
- I removed and cleaned the strainer and tried again...it still runs continuously.
- I am pretty sure it is not a leak in one of the water pipes as I have been connected to city water for a few days while testing and have not seen any evidence of water leakage or damage.
- I adjusted the pump cycling setting (I think that's what it is...the manual that came with it is basic in nature) and there was no change to the continuous pumping.
- I changed the piping valve configurations to both isolate, and incorporate the hot water tank...just to see if that would affect anything...no change.
- The RV has been connected to 120v external power the entire time so it's not the battery
- The pump manual says the remaining issues may be air leaking at inlet plumbing or failed diaphragm but I don't know how to verify which (if any) of these causes it could be
The pump is only 4 years old so it should be in good shape still...but is it possible the pump is broken?
Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Scott
