I attached a siphon tube to my city water inlet and am trying to use the water pump to flush my fixtures with antifreeze to winterize my unit. I have all the valve in the proper position for "winterize". I can hear the pump run when I press the pump toggle switch but there is no suction in the line. I removed siphon tube and pressed my thumb against the fitting and there is not suction. I know the pump works because I have been able to use it to dry camp and to pump out the water from the fresh water tank. Do I need to prime the pump? This is my first year winterizing the unit. I know the dealership was able to winterize the unit in January 2022 before we took delivery. Any suggests on how to troubleshoot? Thanks.

You did open the inline valve in the suction tube? It may be hidden further up the line and you missed it.

Thanks 660Catman, I am posting a photo of the siphon line I connected. I just used plastic tubing and some brass fittings. I am thinking I will need to open the panel to access the pump and any inline valves. Is that what you suggest?

My panel is different but still has the valve settings depending on where you need them. Mine sits on a wall I can reach behind and grab the siphon line. In the winterizing setting and siphon hose valve open it uses the 12v water pump to siphon antifreeze in. No city water line is hooked up. I do use the city water hookup setting though to blow out the lines first with low pressure air. I have a 2021 Durango D250RES.

Looking at the picture, it looks like you could use an air fitting for using the air to winterize. Attach a hose to the fitting and use like what you built.

Did you manage to figure this out?

Yes I did. The siphon hose I made did not have a good seal so I unscrewed the fittings and covered the threads with teflon tape. I secured the hose with a hose clamp, and screwed the siphon back into the city water inlet and turned on the pump and everything worked fine. One tip I learned from talking to the tech at the dealership was to make sure to open the pressure release valve on the on demand hot water heater until I see the pink antifreeze flow from the water heater.
Thanks for asking.

I drain the WH heater by removing the anode rod.... and close the WH bypass valve... I don't want pink in my WH to taste for the next season.. Just sayin'

FWIW, my '17 D1500 277RLT has a separate siphon tube that's stowed behind the panel. Worked great to add water from a blue cube jug when we were boondocking.

I have d333rtl Daurango 5th wheel. I have to close the hot water tank and then it siphon its self. Plus I really don't want the rv anitfreeze in the hit water tank.
